Funeral Of Philip Bausch, Sr., Held Here

Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran church in Atkinson last Friday afternoon for Philip Bausch, Sr., who died at Atalissa, la., Sept. 17 at the age of 99 years. The service was conducted by the local pastor, Rev.  Wm. G. Vahle, and the following account of his life was given:

“Philip Bausch was born at Baden, Germany, Oct. 31, 1830, and died; at Atalissa, la., Sept. 17, 1929, aged 98 years, 19 months and  17 v days! He was married to  Margaret Diddler in 1850 and in  1867 the family came to America, settling in Illinois. From Illinois they moved to Iowa and then to  eastern Nebraska.

Five children were  born in  Germany and eight in America. Two daughters, Margaret and Eva, died  in   infancy, in Iowa and one son, Adam, died there at the age of 8 years. Two sons, William at  10 years of age, and Philip at 68,  died in Nebraska and are buried  here. His wife who preceded him  in death 21 years ago, is also  buried in Atkinson.

Those left to mourn his death are Charles of O'Neill, Henry, Fred and Stephen of Phoenix, Adolph of Atalissa, la., Mrs. Kate Kirsch of  Muscatine, la., Mrs. Elizabeth  Wenzel of Steinauer and Mrs. Anna Evens of Atkinson Thirty grand children and twenty - eight great grandchildren also survive him.”
