      2. Censuses: Rachel does not appear in 1856 Utah census. Can't find Rachel in 1880 census for the West even though she supposedly died in 1882 in Salem, Utah; did find several of her sons surnamed Davis in Salem, Utah on a house by house search of the entire town. Did not find in California.

Rachel and Henry heard the gospel while living in Tennessee and were baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1838. They left with the Saints in 1840 and walked to Nauvoo. They stopped at Ramus, Illinois, for six months to work before they continued on to Nauvoo. Their son, Larkin, drowned while returning to Ramus to get some things they had left there. While in Nauvoo, Rachel, Henry, and Elizabeth Jane received their endowments in the Nauvoo Temple, February 2, 1846. They left that same year to go West. They went as far as Mr. Pisgah, Iowa, when her husband, Henry, died. At that time, Rachel was expecting her twelfth child. They had to endure so many persecutions from the mobs, the hardships of pioneer life, and the loss of their loved ones. But still she had a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She entered the Salt Lake Valley, September 17, 1849, by wagon in the Orson Spencer Company. Rachel was married to Benjamin Franklin Stewart as his third wife for time only on September 7, 1850. She was sealed to Henry Davis at this time with Benjamin Stewart acting as proxy. They had one daughter. Rachel married Samuel Adair on May 9, 1853 in Payson, Utah, and later moved to California. She died August 5, 1882, in Salem, Utah, at the age of 72."
