An extremely valuable reference book on this family is "Thomas Sanford, the emigrant to New England; ancestry, life, and descendants, 1632-4," by Carlton E. Sanford (Tuttle Company: Rutland, Vermont, 1911). It contains a thorough examination and report of the English church records, lay subsidies, and probate for this family.
