- RESEARCH_NOTES:
1. "The ancestry of Lorenzo Ackley & his wife Emma Arabella Bosworth," edited by Donald L. Jacobus, p. 83:
"Richard Sanford of Stanstead Mountfitchet, co. Essex, Eng., was buried 16 Nov. 1591; married Elizabeth --, buried 15 Sept. 1600.
Their son, Thomas Sanford, a glover, of Much Hadham, co. Herts, was buried 6 Apr. 1597; married first, at Stanstead Mountfitchet, 21 Sept. 1581, Friswith Eve, who was buried 24 Nov. 1581; married second Mary - , who married second, 9 Aug. 1597, John Haddesley, and was buried 19 Aug. 1620. His will called John Mellett and John Lewes his brothers-in-law.
Ezekiel Sanford, eldest child by the second wife, baptized at Much Hadham, 20 Feb. 1585/6; married -- Warner, daughter of John Warner of Hatfield Broad Oak, co. Essex, and sister of Andrew Warner, a founder of Hartford, Conn. He may have lived at Hatfield Broad Oak until 1612, was certainly of Stanstead Mountfitchet from then until after 1624, and was of Margaretting, co. Essex, by 1635.
Children, some baptized at Stanstead Mountfitchet:
i. Thomas, b. abt. 1608.
ii. John, b. abt. 1610; buried at Stanstead Mountfitchet, 5 Sept. 1679; m. Olim --, bur. 16 Jan. 1674/5.

viii. Jonathan, bapt. 18 Jan. 1623/4.
ix. Zachary, almost certainly a later child of Ezekiel; settled early in Saybrook, Conn., where he d. 23 Dec. 1668; m. Hannah Rockwell of Windsor, who d. 15 Jan. 1664/5.
x. Nathaniel, perhaps the youngest son of Ezekiel; settled in Hartford, where he d. by 1687; probably m. (l)-, mother of his only dau. Mary (b. abt. 1659); m. (2) by 1665 Susanna (Clark) Kelly, who m. (3) John Buttolph."
2. Grandmother Mary (Purchase) Warner's 1627 will notes that Rose Sanford has eight children at that time, which would mean that Zachary and Nathaniel would have been born after May 1627 if they are in fact sons belonging to this family. Their placement with the family has always been a bit tentative and not fully proven.
