      “THOMAS BRIWERRE, son and heir. He married ___ DE ALBEMARLE, daughter of Geoffrey de Albemarle, of Woodbury, Devon. They had two sons, William and John, and three daughters, (wife of Osbert de Gladfen), Englesia (wife of William de la Brueria) and (wife of John de Torrington). In the period, 1154-89, the king granted license to Thomas Briwerre to have his dogs for catching hares and foxes, as had his father in the reign of King Henry I.

      i. WILLIAM BRIWERRE, Knt. [see next].
      ii. JOHN BRIWERRE, Knt., in right of his wife, of Mendlesham, Suffolk, younger son. He married in or before 1197 GALIENA DE DAMMARTIN, daughter and heiress of William de Dammartin, of Norton Mandeville, Essex and Mendlesham, Suffolk. They had no issue. SIR JOHN BRIWERRE was living in March 1210. His widow, Galiena, married (2nd) about Michaelmas 1210 ROBERT DE BURGATE, in right of his wife, of Norton Mandeville, Essex and Mendlesham, Suffolk. They had one son, Peter. Sometime in the period, 1210-26, he and his wife, Galiena, acknowledged that Sir William Briwerre had returned to them their charters. ROBERT DE BURGATE died sometime after Easter 1220. His widow, Galiena, married (3rd) before 1228 ERNULPH DE MANDEVILLE, of South Mimms, Middlesex. They had two sons, John and Hugh. ERNULPH DE MANDEVILLE was living 1235. In 1257-8 his widow, Galiena, quitclaimed to Missenden Abbey with the consent of her son and heir, Peter de Burgate, 10s. of annual rent and all her right to land called Hunfrey's Hide at Missenden, Buckinghamshire).       iii. ___ BRIWERRE (daughter), married JOHN DE TORRINGTON. They had one son, William. JOHN DE TORRINGTON died in or before 1207. Dallas & Porter Note-book of Tristram Risdon (1897): 66-67 ("John de Torinton had a dispute with the Abbess and Nuns of St. Edward's relative to the advowson of the Church of Torrington in 1194 [Plan. Abbrev., 6 Ric. I., m. 15 days after M'mas, Rot. 8). In the year 1201 he paid 50 marks for license to travel beyond seas, when he held nineteen knights' fees in capite and six knights' fees of the honour of Gloucester (Rot. de Obl., 3 John, memb. 8). He died in or before 1207 (Rot. Litt. Claus., 9 John, memb. 12), and was succeeded by his son, William de Torinton, who is mentioned in letters respectiving scutage in 1214 (Rot. Litt. Claus., 16 John, pt. 2, memb. 24 in dorso). He died in 1224, leaving a widow, Avicia, who had a grant of the manor of Torrington pending the settlement of her dower (Rot. Litt. Claus., 8 Hen. III., pt. 1, memb. 10), and who subsequently married Nicholas de Boleville, who in 1230 held her dower (Rot. Fin., 15 Hen. III, memb. 7). Leaving no issue, he was succeeded by his uncle, Matthew de Torinton ..."."

      “WILLIAM BRIWERRE, seen 1150. He married an unidentified wife, ___. They had two sons, Richard and Thomas. According to a charter of King John, he held and in Hampshire, together with the forestership of Bere in the time of King Henry I. In the period, 1129-71, Henry, Bishop of Winchester, confirmed the grant of Walkelin Briwerre of a hide of land, half at Michelmarsh and half at Awbridge, Hampshire; this charter was witnessed by William Briwerre and his sons, Richard and Thomas.
