      “BERENGARIO (or BÉRENGER) I, Margrave of Friuli, 874/875-881, King of Italy, 881-924, Emperor, 915-924, born say 840-845. He married (1st) say 880-890 BERTILA OF SPOLETO, daughter of Suppo II, Duke of Spoleto, by Bertha, daughter of Count Wifred. They had two daughters, Gisela and Bertha [Abbess of St. Salvatore, Brescia]. His wife, Bertila, was living 3 Nov. 890. She was charged with adultery and died by poison, sometime before Berengario became emperor in 915. He married (2nd) before December 915 ANNA ___. They had no issue. BERENGARIO I was murdered at Verona 7 April 924. His widow, Anna, was living May 936.

They had one son, Berengario (or Bérenger) (II) [Margrave of Ivrea, King of Italy] and one daughter, Bertha [Abbess in Modena]. She died between 13 June 910 and 26 Jan. 913. He married (2nd) about 915 ERMENGARDE OF LUCCA, daughter of Adalberto, Count (or Duke) of Lucca, Margrave of Tuscany, by Bertha, daughter of Lothair II, King of Lorraine. She was born about 901. They had one son, Anscario II [Margrave of Spoleto and Camerino]. ADALBERTO, Margrave of Ivrea, died between 17 July 923 and 8 October 924. His widow, Ermengarde, died 29 Feb., after 932.
