      “BERTHA, married (1st) before 880 THIBAUD, Count of Arles. They had two sons, Hugo (or Hugues) [Count of Vienne, Marquis of Provence, King of Italy] and Boso [Count of Avignon, Count of Arles, Margrave of Tuscany]. Thibaud, Count of Arles, was living June 887. His widow, Bertha, married (2nd) ADALBERTO II, Margrave of Tuscany. They had two sons, Guido [Margrave of Tuscany] and Lambert [Margrave of Tuscany], and one daughter, Ermengarde (wife of Adalberto, Margrave of Ivrea). Adalberto II, Margrave of Tuscany, died 17 August, no later than 915. Bertha died at Lucca 8 March 925.

      “LOTHAIR II, King of Lorraine, 855-869, born about 835, younger son. He married, (1st) about 855 THEUTBERGE, daughter of Count Boso. They had no issue. He married (2nd) 25 Dec. 862 WALDRADE, kinswoman of Count Eberhard, of Alsace. They had one son, Hugues [Duke of Alsace, Lay-abbot of Lobbes], and three daughters, Gisele (wife of Godefrid, Danish king, Duke in Friesland; she was afterwards Abbess of Nivelles and Fosses), Bertha, and Ermengarde (nun). Waldrade died as a nun at Remiremont 9 April, after 868. LOTHAIR II, King of Lorraine, died at Piacenza 8 August 869, and was buried there in the church of San Antonio the Martyr.

      “GISELA OF ITALY, married before c.900 (as his 1st wife) ADALBERTO, Margrave of Ivrea, 898/902-922/924, son of Anscario, Margrave of Ivrea. They had one son, Berengario (or Bérenger) (II) [Margrave of Ivrea, King of Italy] and one daughter, Bertha [Abbess in Modena]. She died between 13 June 910 and 26 Jan. 913. He married (2nd) about 915 ERMENGARDE OF LUCCA, daughter of Adalberto, Count (or Duke) of Lucca, Margrave of Tuscany, by Bertha, daughter of Lothair II, King of Lorraine. She was born about 901. They had one son, Anscario II [Margrave of Spoleto and Camerino]. ADALBERTO, Margrave of Ivrea, died between 17 July 923 and 8 October 924. His widow, Ermengarde, died 29 Feb., after 932.
