      “HAWISE DE POYNINGS, married (1st) by settlement dated 17 June 1314 JOHN DE REYDON, of Overbury Hall, Suffolk, son and heir of Robert de Reydon, of Bowthorpe, Norfolk. They had one daughter, Alice (wife of Andrew de Bures, Knt., and John de Sutton, Knt.). His widow, Hawise, married (2nd) before 1320 JOHN DE WYSHAM (or WISHAM), Knt., of Clifton and Woodmanton (both in Clifton upon Teme), Churchill, Lower Sapy, and Wolverton (in Stoulton), Worcestershire, Redhall (in Burstow), Surrey, and Clayton Wickham, Sussex, Esquire to the King, Warden of the Forest of Dean and Constable of St. Briavels Castle, 1310-18, Steward of the Household of King Edward II, Justice of North Wales, Seneschal of Guyenne, younger son of Ralph de Wysham, of Woodmanton (in Clifton upon Teme), Worcestershire, by his wife, Emilia. They had one son, John, Knt. He served in the retinue of Guy de Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick, in 1307 and 1311. In 1308 he was granted 400 acres of land in the waste of the land of Bromfield, Denbighshire by John de Warenne, Earl of Surrey. In 1321 he and his wife, Hawise, acquired the manor of Shelsley Beauchamp, Worcestershire from John Botetourt, Knt., 1st Lord Botetourt, and his wife, Maud. In 1322-3 John Botetourt, Knt. also conveyed the manor of Little Ellingham, Norfolk to them. In 1327 he and his wife, Hawise, and John de Westbury sued Joan de Argentein regarding the advowson of the church of Churchill, together with two parts of the manor of Churchill, Worcestershire. In the period, 1327-8 he and his wife, Hawise, sued Henry le Bole and Joan his wife regarding a tenement in Little Wolferton and Bishampton, Worcestershire. He had a grant of free warren in Clifton, Lower Sapy, and Shelsley Beauchamp, Worcestershire in 1328. SIR JOHN DE WYSHAM died shortly before 16 Nov. 1332. His widow, Hawise, died shortly before 14 April 1359.

      “MARGERY (or MARGARET) BARDOLF, married before 8 June 1298 MICHAEL DE POYNINGS (or PONYNGES), Knt., of Poynings, Crawley, Hangleton, Pyecombe, and Slaugham, Sussex, Wormingford and Tendring, Essex, Hockwold, Norfolk, Bures, Suffolk, etc., Knight of the Shire for Sussex, 1312/3, son and heir of Luke de Poynings, Knt., of Poynings, Crawley, Pyecombe, Slaugham, and Twineham, Sussex, Wormingford, Essex, etc., by his wife, Hawise, widow of Reynold de Vautort. They had two sons, Thomas, Knt., and Michael, and three daughters, Joan, Hawise, and Margery. He was summoned to attend the king on urgent matters in 1294. He had letters of protection granted to him in 1295, he then going to Scotland on the king's service. In 1296 he was enrolled for defence of the coast, as a non-resident knight of Sussex. In 1296 the king ordered an enquiry be made regarding the persons who, during the absence of Michael de Poynings in Scotland on the king's service, broke his park at Slaugham, Sussex, hunted therein, and carried away deer. In 1297 he was summoned for service overseas. In 1299 he was granted letters of protection, he then going with Henry de Percy beyond seas. In 1303 John, Earl of Warenne, requested that Chancellor of England grant him protection and exemption, he then going with the said earl in the Scottish war. He and his wife were summoned to attend the Coronation of King Edward II in 1308. He was granted letters of protection in 1308, he then going to France in the company of John de Warenne, Earl of Surrey. SIR MICHAEL DE POYNINGS was probably killed at the Battle of Bannockburn 24 June 1314. His widow, Margery, presented to the church of Hockwold, Norfolk in 1329. In 1333 the king recovered the right of presentation to the church of Hokewold, Norfolk in the court of King's Bench against her. Margery was living 24 Feb. 1333/4.
