      3. 19 May 2002 Ancestry.com database ":ah4907b" gives death as 10 May 1919, wife as Annes Elizabeth Erwin b. 1858 and m. 24 Mar 1880 with four children: Florence Eva, Anaud, Guy, and Glenn. Database "doigk" has variant on wife's name as Ervin.

      4. Per FHL book 977.747 H2n "History of Harrison County, Iowa," 1891, p. 447, has the following biography of James Ervin, the father to Annes who married John Graybill:
"James Ervin first settled in La Grange Township in June, 1857, where he rented two years and in the spring of 1859, went to Reeder's Mills, farmed one year then returned to La Grange Township, where he opened up a new farm. He built a log cabin sixteen feet square, which was provided with a cottonwood floor. He now has a fine farm house which was erected in 1879. Upon coming to the county he had $100 and a span of horses. Our subject was born in Monroe County, W. Va., in March, 1831, and is the son of John and Elizabeth (Moorhead) Ervin, who came to Harrison County in the fall of 1856, and lived with his children until his death in 1862. The mother died in June, 1868. Our subject remained at home until he was nineteen years of age and then learned the cabinetmaker's trade at Rocky Point, W. Va. He followed the cabinet business five years prior to his coming to Harrison County, on his own account. In December, 1852, he married Sarah Higginbotham, who is the third child of a family of five children. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin are the parents of a family of seven children - Eliza J., Annis, Alcesta, Etta, James, Verna and John."

      5. FHL book 929.273 P684pn: "Graybill/Stoker/Eller/Smith/Koons/Pitt Connections," by Norman E. 'Gene' Pitt, 1996, pp. 72-75, extensive downline of this family is in the book: "John 'Jack' Graybill, b. 12 May 1851, Potta., Co., IA; d. 10 May 1919; md. 24 Mar 1880 to Annes Elizabeth Ervin (or Erwin?). She was b. 12 May 1858, Logan, Harrison Co., IA; d. 4 Oct 1927. Their children were Anaude (or Maude?) E., Guy Everett, Glen, Pearl Etta, Hazel Edna, Florence Eva and Glen Ervin."

      BIRTH:
      1. Conflict between date of 12 May 1850 in death record and 12 May 1851 on tombstone. I use the tombstone date which coincides with 1900 census which also reports May 1851. The death record was reported to county officials second hand by someone from Underwood, Iowa.

      MARRIAGE:
      1. Www.rootsweb.com/~iaharris/marriage/ba.htm has an 1853-1905 Marriage Index for Harrison County: "No. 406, John Graybill and Annice E. Ervin, 24 Mar 1880."

      2. FHL film 1513296 "Marriage Records Harrison County": "Mr. John Graybill, age 28, and Miss Annes E. Erven, age 21. Issue of License. Application being made this day by John Graybill for license for the marriage of Mr. John Graybill aged 27 years, and Miss Annes E. Erven age 21 years, and it appearing by acquaintance of clerk that the said parties are of competent age and condition to marry, license is therefore issued. C.L. Hyde, Clerk of the Circuit Court. Certificate of Marriage. To the Circuit Court of Harrison County: This certifies, that on the 24th of March A.D. 1880 at residence of James E. Ervin in said county, according to law and by authority, I duly joined in marriage John Graybill and Annes E. Ervin. Given under my hand the 25 day of March, 1880. (Signed) J.A. Sanders." [Note: variance in John's ages and in Erven/Ervin.]

      3. FHL Book 929.273EL54h "George Michael Eller and Descendants of His in America," compiled by James W. Hook, 1957, also on FHL film 896571, item 2, p. 99: "Annes Elizabeth Ervin, b. 12 May 1858, near Logan, Iowa, d. 4 Oct 1927. She was the daughter of James and Sarah (Higgenbotham) Erwin, who came to Iowa in 1856 from Va. It was their dau., Florence Eva Graybill (Wilson), who supplied the family data [that James Hook uses] pertaining to George Washington Graybill."

      DEATH:
      1. Tombstone shows 10 May 1919.

      2. FHL film 1477205 "Pottawattamie Death Records, 1898-," register entry #847: "John Graybill, farmer, Underwood in Norwalk Twp., male, white, married, born May 12, 1850 in Iowa, 68 years 11 months 28 days old, father is John Graybill born in Ohio, mother is Mary Smith born in South Carolina, informant was Florence Casey of Underwood, died May 10, 1919 of cirrhosis of liver, physician was H.B. Moorehead of Underwood, buried May 12, 1919, in Fisher Cemetery, undertaker was Woodring and Jackson of Council Bluffs." [Obvious error: father was Geo. W. Graybill and not John Graybill; mother is correct.]
