  RESEARCH_NOTES: 1. The image of the marriage of John Kidney and Hannah Collison 10 Jun 1745 in Chatham says he is of Thurlston and she is of the parish of Chatham. No other info is given in the record. Thurlston is a hamlet adjoining Detling, which makes it certain that the children who follow in Detling are of this marriage. The problem though is who is Hannah Collison. There is a large gathering of various Collison families in the Headcorn/East Sutton, but no others show in the indexed records anywhere else in Kent for the required age. There are two potential Hannah's born in the required timeframe: one chr. 11 July 1725 to William and Jane Collison in East Sutton, Kent, which is about 10.2 miles from Detling and the other chr. 6 Nov 1720 to Matthew Collison and Jane Carnes at Headcorn 11.2 miles from Detling. The problem is that Chatham 11.9 miles in the opposite direction northwest from Detling. Normally a marriage is held in the bride's parish, but so far no Hannah Collisons have been found in Chatham. Of course, with time, more and more indexed records come online, which may solve the problem in the future. However, using the two we have thus far, one of them may have gone to work as a domestic in Chatham, which was a larger area. Besides the 1745 marriage in Chatham, there was another marriage on 2 Jun 1747 in Leeds, Kent to Thomas Judges. Leeds is very close to East Sutton and just a bit further for Headcorn. The statistical studies of the average age for females in marriage in the late 1600s to the mid-1700s in Kent is 22 (and 25 for males), but there could be rare exceptions of perhaps a woman being as young as 19. With this in mind, and ASSUMING there were only two eligible Hannahs, then the one christened first would most likely be the earlier marriage and the other the later. The ASSUMPTION is that no other Hannah Collisons will be found closer to Chatham as more and more indexed records go online. So tentatively, the Collison we follow is Hannah chr. 6 Nov 1720 to Matthew Collison.
