- RESEARCH_NOTES:
1. The following is research by Roy L. Hales per his email to me of 9 Feb 2016 . The following information makes for good background information for furthering research; however, it is too tentative to claim as our ancestry from John Wilkyns. The naming pattern down from the generation of our proven ancestor John Wylkins seems to work against the proposed ancestry. John named his two sons Michael and Thomas. Michael in turn named his two sons Joseph and Thomas. We have not found a descendancy for John's son Thomas in Throwley. Unfortunately we see no Solomons or Davids as we would expect in the descending two generations. Of course John is a more common name and probably not our best indicator for a naming pattern -- so I discount that name if that is all we have. Roy's email [Note: KAS = Kent Archaelogical Society]:

Old enough to be John Wilkyn's father or grandfather and Throwley is 7-8 miles from Tonge.
d) David Wylkyn of Faversham (died 1475)

Old enough to be John Wilkyn's father or grandfather, Faversham is only 6 miles from Tonge & the name David keeps reappearing in subsequent generations of our family.

I would eliminate (e) because I think he is the rebel leader John Wilkins who was executed in 1451, after starting a second rebellion and (h) because our lot seem to have money.
Looking through our thread, I see a lot of Johns, Solomons and Davids, but no Geoffreys or Williams.
I still favour (D), based on:
- His name "David"
- The fact he was only a few miles from where our first Wilkins shows up and both (A) and (G) threads were +20 miles away.
That said, we are talking about possibilities - haven't reached proof.

The will of William Cayme <http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Research/Pub/ArchCant/Vol.041%20-%201929/041-04.pdf> from Sittingbourne (11 Jan 1490/91) states John Wilkyn from Tonge is to receive a 6-8d rent from his tenements the next market place. Cayme's wife Joan inherits the tenements.

Hasted <http://kentarchaeology.ac/TopographicalTradition/1798-hasted-o-6.pdf> wrote of the avowdson of the vicarage of Tonge: "The parsonage of the church of Tong did not remain long in the hands of the crown, for the king granted it in his 29th year (i.e. 1538/39), with the monastery, and the lands and possessions of it, to the archbishop of Canterbury, in exchange for other premises; but all advowsons were excepted out of this grant. Soon after which, this parsonage was demised on lease by the archbishop at the yearly rent of six pounds, and in this state it still continues parcel of the possessions of the archbishopric of Canterbury. But the advowson of the vicarage, by virtue of the above-mentioned exception, still remained in the crown, where it continued till it was sold anno 1557, to Salomon Wilkins; but in the next reign of queen Elizabeth, it was become vested in William Potter."

Salmon Wikyns was the executor of the will of Thomas Thomas of Preston (outside Faversham) 1 June 1550 - Duncan Harrington, THOMAS ARDEN IN FAVERSHAM, The Faversham Society, p. 408).
