- RESEARCH_NOTES:
1. "TAG" article "William Smith of Jamaica," who is the father of the following John:
"John3 Smith, born say 1662, is said to have married Elizabeth Mills, daughter of Samuel Mills of Jamaica, who conveyed 22 Jan 1682/3 to his son-in-law John Smith of Jamaica.
The compiler feels dissatisfied also with the family of John, not having seen sufficient record evidence for the satatements usually made concerning this family group. For another John Smith who could conceivably have been husband of Elizabeth Mills, see page 69. The name Elizabeth is stangely absent in the family of John, her alleged son..."
Per the note above for the other John on page 69 in "TAG" article "Bartholomew Smith of Huntington," who is the father of the following:
"John, had land in Jamaica, 1668, then descried at "rouse" from his step-father's name; of Jamaica 1679 and 1683; "late of Jamaica" 1687 when he received a homestead in Hempstead; on 28 Jun 1690 was described in Hempstead records as of "St. Johns in Kent Co. on Dover River, Pa." on 22 Jan 1682/3, Samuel Mills of Jamaica deeded to his son-in-law John Smith of Jamaica, ususallly considered to be John Smith, William Smith of Jamaica family, but possibly this John..."
