  • Notes
    • RESEARCH_NOTES:
      1. From a FHL search and extraction of the parish records of Warden, of which Newbrough Chapelry is subservient and very nearby, per film 1068615, for Charletons (note that this Parish was never fully extracted by LDS IGI for the mid to late 1700s and so the following information is not readily seen); christenings 1724 to 1812 for the following parents: George Charleton, labourer, native of Fourstones by his wife Mary Turnbull, dau. of George Turnbull, labourer, native of the Kennel in the parish of Simonburn:
      -Thomas Charleton, b. 29 Dec 1801, bapt. 4 Apr 1802.
      -George Charleton, b. 20 May 1803, bapt. 24 Jul 1803, second son.
      -Mary Charleton, b. 18 Apr 1805, bapt. 24 May 1805, first dau. (Bur. 14 Dec 1805.)
-Robert Charleton, b. 9 Sep 1806, bapt. 11 Jan 1807, third son. (Notes grandfather is native of Boor and not the Kennel.)
-Mary Charleton, b. 10 Dec 1808, bapt. 23 Apr 1809, second dau. (Notes grandfather is native of Boor and not the Kennel.)

      2. FHL film 2193232, Warden Parish Overseers books showing payments to the poor:
-There is a Margaret Charleton receiving payments for several years from about the 1780s to 1820.
-There is a Sarah Charleton receiving payments from 25 May-25 Jun 1804. This is about the time George died; however, I am not sure if there is a relationship or not.
-There is a George receiving misc. payments "when ill" for what looks to be 1804 (the entry above his) even though it is in the section of May 1805-May 1806.
-There is a Jane Charleton receiving a year's worth of payments beginning about 1810 and continuing to about 1819.
-There is a George Charleton with children receiving some payments in about 1817-1819.

      3. A burial for one of George's children from the parish records of Warden, of which Newbrough Chapelry is subservient and very nearby, per FHL film 1068615, (note that this Parish was never fully extracted by LDS IGI for the mid to late 1700s and so the following information is not readily seen); see George's notes for my full extraction of which the following single entry is from the burials of 1724 to 1819:
-14 Dec 1805 (d. 13 Dec 1805), Mary Charleton, dau. of George Charleton, labourer, 8 months old. [Dau. of George Charleton and Mary Turnbull.]

      4. FHL film 2193232, Warden Parish Overseers books showing payments to the poor:

-There is a George receiving misc. payments "when ill" for what looks to be 1804 (the entry above his) even though it is in the section of May 1805-May 1806. [Probably George senior.]
-There is a Jane Charleton receiving a year's worth of payments beginning about 1810 and continuing to about 1819. [Probably Jane, wife of George, who dies in 1819 when the poor donations ceased.]
-There is a George Charleton with children receiving some payments in about 1817-1819. [Probably George, son of George.]
