      1. From a FHL search and extraction of the parish records of Warden, of which Newbrough Chapelry is subservient and very nearby, per film 1068615, for Charletons (note that this Parish was never fully extracted by LDS IGI for the mid to late 1700s and so the following information is not readily seen); the asterisk (*) denotes a known relationship:
      A. Christenings 1724 to 1812 for the following fathers:
      a. Father: William Charlton (there are probably two or more Williams involved due to the proximity of dates for some of the children as well as the 1750 death of Ann, wife to one of the Williams, as well as the marriages of two Williams in 1733 and 1753 as noted below):

      2. Mentioned in the following christening record of George's second child from the parish records of Newbrough Chapelry, FHL film 1068609 (note she is the only one of George's children christened in Newbrough with all the rest of the children being in Warden): Elizabeth Charleton, dau. of George residing at Fourstones, chr. 6 Apr 1766.

      3. FHL film 2193232, Warden Parish Easter Rate books, has a section of about 30-40 names listed under Fourstones for the following years in which we find the following Charletons. The dues are quite small and Robert always seems to be paying in-kind with harvested hay:
-1773: Geo. Charleton, Rob't Charleton, and Wm. Ridley (father of George's daughter-in-law?).
-1774: Geo. Charleton, Wm. Ridley, and Tho's. Ridley.
-1775: Geo. Charleton, Reb't Charleton, Wm. Ridley, and Tho's. Ridley.
-1776: Geo. Charleton, Reb't Charleton, Wm. Ridley, and Tho's. Ridley.
-1777: Geo. Charleton, Wm. Ridley, and Tho's. Ridley.
-1178: Geo. Charleton, Wm. Ridley, and Tho's. Ridley.

      4. FHL film 2193232, Warden Parish Overseers books showing payments to the poor:
-There is a Margaret Charleton receiving payments for several years from about the 1780s to 1820. [No relationship to our family that I can find.]
-There is a Sarah Charleton receiving payments from 25 May-25 Jun 1804. This is about the time George died. [ I am not sure who this is.]
-There is a George receiving misc. payments "when ill" for what looks to be 1804 (the entry above his) even though it is in the section of May 1805-May 1806. [Probably George senior.]
-There is a Jane Charleton receiving a year's worth of payments beginning about 1810 and continuing to about 1819. [Probably Jane, wife of George, who dies in 1819 when the poor donations ceased.]
-There is a George Charleton with children receiving some payments in about 1817-1819. [Probably George, son of George.]

      5. Accepting the premise that this George is the same George who married Jane Foster in Saint John Lee on 20 Jun 1762, then the following child may be their first child. This is from the parish christening records of Saint John Lee per FHL film 1068897 and it is the only entry for a George Charleton between 1705 and 1809 with the exception of two twins, Matthew and John, christened in 1752. The scarcity of George as a father in the parish and the fact that the marriage and christening coincide so closely seems more than coincidence. From my review of various parish registers of the area, it was not uncommon that a marriage would occur just prior to the birth of a child. In fact there are many illegitimate children also reported - so the morals were relatively loose. The entry:
-Mary, dau. of George Charrelton of Wal, chr. 1 Aug 1762.

      6. See notes for George's sister Elenor who married John Scott. They also lived in Fourstones.

      7. FHL film 1068873, 1762 Persons Liable to Serve in the Militia Lists for Northumberland for Fourstones Constablery in Netherwarden parish: George Charlton of Fourstones, Servant. [I don't see a John Scott, George's brother-in-law.]

      CHRISTENING:
      1. A major clue given us about George's birth is unexpectedly found in the following two birth records of his grandchildren as found on FHL film 1068615, Warden parish church records, and defines the probable birth location:
-Jane Dunn, b. 30 Mar 1798, bapt. 4 Apr 1798, dau. of John Dunn, cartwright and native of Stannerton by his wife Barbara Charleton, dau. of George Charleton, native of Dunterley in the parish of Simondburn.
-Isabella Pattison, b. 4 Jul 1808, bapt. 2 Aug, 1808, first dau. of Edward Pattison, labourer and native of Simonburn by his wife Ann Charleton, dau. of George Charleton, native of Dunterley in the parish of Simonburn.
Another clue giving us the approximate birth date (ca. 1729) is from the death record in the same film and parish of Warden for George: 15 Jun 1804 (d. 12 Jun 1804), George Charleton of Fourstones, labourer, 75 years old.
There is a Dunterley located in the ancient homelands of the Charltons just a short distance from the Charlton gentry home at Hesleyside and just one mile of less directly west across the North Tyne River from Bellingham. The parish name Simonburn was a very large area stretching 32 miles by 36 miles above Warden and just east of Bellingham stretching all the way to the Scottish border. It seems from researching the area that sometimes the parishes further south just vaguely referred to everything north of themselves as Simonburn parish. In reality, Dunterley is actually in Bellingham parish. From what I can learn on the Internet, Dunterley is in Leemailing Township and Bellingham Parish. (Occassionally, there is some references to Stobilee, which is actually Stobbylee and also in the same township and parish; this is also the same case with Hesleyside.) Dunterley is reported to really just a lovely old farmhouse and a few stone cottages on teh edge of Dunterley fell on the road to Hesleyside. Either way, I surveyed the records of both parishes using 5 years either side of 1729:
      -Simonburn: No results.
-Bellingham - only one result: George, son of Thomas Charlton, chr. 23 Apr 1730 at Bellingham. In checking the actual record on FHL film 252545, we find the same information but with the added residence location of "Dunterlee."
With this analysis, I believe this is a solid case for this being for our George.

      2. FHL film 252545, church records for Bellingham parish, Northumberland, christenings from 1720-1750 for a father Thomas of Dunterlee (there are many Charltons since this is the area of the ancestral home of the Charltons, but the registrar was very good at always identifying a residence for each entry). These are the only Charltons identified with the abode of Dunterley and we can presume them as one family:
-30 Apr 1727, Lionel, son of Thomas Charlton, Dunterlee.
-23 Apr 1730, George, son of Thomas Charlton, Dunterlee.
-27 Dec 1731, John, son of Thomas Charlton, Dunterlee.
-24 Jun 1733, Ann, dau. of Thomas Charlton, Dunterlee.
-27 Dec 1735, Elenor, dau. of Thomas Charlton, Dunterlee.
-13 Oct 1737, Thomas, son of Thomas Charlton, Dunterlee.
-25 Apr 1739, Edward, son of Thomas Charlton, Dunterlee.
-16 Jun 1743, Jacob Joseph and Jane, twins of Thomas Charlton, Dunterlee.

      MARRIAGE:
      1. FHL film 1068897 of the parish records of Lee St. John: "George Charleton and Jane Foster both of the Chapelry of St. Oswald were married in this Church by publication this 20 Jun 1762 by me Alex'r Stokoe, Curate of St. John Lee. This marriage was solemnized between George Charlton and Jane Foster in the presence of us, [signed] Edward Forster and Michael Charlton."

      2. FHL film 252546, Bellingham marriage records beginning 1754, I don't see marriage records for the following of Thomas' Children: Lionel, George, or Jacob; however, the following ones should be investigated further for the other children:
-11 May 1757, Ann Charlton and Christopher Wilkinson, both of the parish, wit: "Jhon" Wilkinson and Edward Charlton. [Many family histories believe this is our Ann.]
-7 Dec 1757, Thomas Charlton and Margt. Lows, wit: Sidorf(?) Elliot and William Charlton.
-14 Jan 1758, Jane Charlton and Peter Dodd, wit: Robert Lovejoy and John Ridley.
-4 May 1760, John Charlton, of Barnsteed in the par. of Simonburn, and Dorothy Scott of Greenhaugh of this chapelry, wit: George Forster and John Ridley.
-Abt. 29 Jan 1761, Edward Charleton and Margaret Reed, of Stobilee of this chapelry, wit: Jno. Dunn and John Lam. [Many family histories believe this is our Edward.]
-31 Jan 1762, Thomas Charlton, of Burnbank in this chapelry, and Christian Dodd, of Buteland of the parish of Chollerton, wit: Michael Dod and William Hall.
-24 May 1767, Eleanor Charlton, of Stobbylee, and John Scott of Antenhell, both of this chapelry, wit: Thos. Charlton and Thomas Charlton. [Many family histories believe this is our Eleanor.]
-24 May 1778, Edward Charlton, of Knopingholm, and Rebeccah Richardson, both of the chapelry of Bellingham, wit: John Breckons and John Richardson.
-23 Jun 1781, Joseph Charlton, if the High-Green, and Ann Elliott, of the Gatehouse, both of this chapelry, wit: Jno. Graham and John Ridley.
-8 Dec 1781, Jane Charlton and John Batey, both of the town and chapelry of Bellingham, wit: William Robson and Simon Dodd.
-16 Jun 1782, Jane Charlton and George Brackons, both of the town and chapelry of Bellingham, wit: Thos. Robson and James Oliver.
-9 Dec 1784, John Charlton and Elizabeth Robson.
-9 Jun 1785, Jane Charlton, of High Carriteth(?), and William Robson, of Whitchester(?), wit: William Charlton, John Robson, and John Robson.
-Abt. 29 Aug 1786, Edward Charleton, esq. of Lechall in this chapelry, and Isabella Laing, of the parish of Ateaham(?) in North Britain, wit: Gab'l Goldburn, John Ridley, and Edward Heron.

      BURIAL:
      1. FHL has a manuscript entitled "Pre-1851 tombstone inscriptions in Warden Parish churchyard, Northumberland," by D. Mason, film 1068873. It does not have any tombstones listed for any Charletons.

      2. From the parish records of Warden, of which Newbrough Chapelry is subservient and very nearby, per FHL film 1068615, (note that this Parish was never fully extracted by LDS IGI for the mid to late 1700s and so the following information is not readily seen); see George's notes for my full extraction of which the following single entry is from the burials of 1724 to 1819:
-15 Jun 1804 (d. 12 Jun 1804), George Charleton of Fourstones, labourer, 75 years old.
