"Nicholas Knapp Genealogy," compiled by Alfred Averill Knapp, M.D. "This Genealogy of the Descendants of Nicholas Knapp, first found mentioned at Watertown, Massachusetts in 1630, is the result of the work and research of many individuals. The four principal collectors of data were Charles Ruggles Knapp, Henry Eno Knapp, Ezra Fred Knapp and the author, Alfred Averill Knapp, but they were assisted through correspondence by a large number of individuals who furnished much valuable family and local information..." Third Generation:

      B. 1673/4, Greenwich and always lived there.
      D. 1716 or 1719, Greenwich.
      M. 2-28-1700/1 (Greenwich Record) or 2-25 or 4-18-1700. (Conn. Vital.) Elizabeth Butler, dau. of Walter and Rebecca Butler. She m. 2nd Segar or Secor or Seager. She made her will in 1753. (See C-3. for Butler record.)
      D-23. Daniel, b. 4-2 or 20-1714, Greenwich, d. 1737 at Stamford, Conn. Never married. His will was made 5-21-1737. Probated 8-2-1737/8. Inventory 1-31-1737/8. Mentions brothers Benjamin. -Joshua. -Joseph. -David and James. Had sisters Martha who m. Joseph Palmer. -Ruth Hubbard. Elizabeth, m. Charles Smith. Executors were Benjamin and Joseph Knapp, brothers. Witnesses, Peter Ferris, Hezekiah Lockwood and Martha Lockwood. Inventory by Hezekiah Lockwood and Samuel Burby or Burley, 1-31-1738. Inventory filed 2-6-1738.

Probate of the will of Charles Smith, dated 8-10-1769, names widow, Elizabeth, children: -Mary, wife of Jonathan Pratt, -Prue. -Samuel. -Charles. -Benjamin. -David. Probated 2-21-1775. Witnessed by Peter Ferris, David Smith III and Abraham Hubbard. As no executor was named in the will, widow Elizabeth and son Samuel were appointed to administer the will. Distribution was made 12-12-1775 to widow and four sons.

      D-31. Ruth b. 8-22-1702. m. before 2-6-1737, Abraham Hubbard, b. 1699, bapt. 9-10-1749, age 50 years. On 4-11-1774 he deeded land to his following daughters: -Ruth, wife of Timothy Ferris, of Greenwich. -Elizabeth, widow of Reuben Reynolds, Greenwich. -Mary, wife of Henry Filkins, of Nine Partners, N.Y. -Martha, wife of James Lockwood, Greenwich. -Hannah, wife of Eliphalet Reynolds. They also had sons, William and Abraham.
      C-7. Benjamin Knapp was granted 10 acres of land at Horseneck. He was on the Greenwich Tax List, 1694 to 1697 for 31 pounds. His children were all born at Greenwich. 1-12-1737, David Knapp distributed of his father's estate. Elizabeth Knapp, 2-25-1736, distributed of her father, Benjamin's estate. 6-4-1719 James, Joshua and Joseph, brothers had distributed to them, or laid out to them in Greenwich. 3-10-1729, Joseph Smith, Charles Webb and James June, bought of Joseph Palmer his rights in the estate of Joseph Knapp."

      2. "Abstracts of Stamford Probate Records - Book One compiled by Spencer P. Mead: "Segar, Elizabeth, widow, late of Greenwich, will dated May 22, 1753, probated July 3, 1753, mentions her children James Knapp, Martha Palmer, Ruth Hubbard, Elizabeth Smith (all formerly Knapp). Executor Captain John Ferris. Witnesses Reuben Reynolds, John Ferris, and Abraham Hubbard, page 181."
      Apparently, Elizabeth remarried to ___ Segar.
