1. Email from Val Bray [mailto:valjoy.bray@yahoo.com.au], Aug 22, 2006: My information from Folkington, Sussex (very close to Arlington) came from FHL film 1364154, and the Sussex Marriages Index (a CD issued by the Sussex Family History Group from parish registers).
Ruth (bapt. 20 Jul 1788 Arlington), married 25 Apr 1814 at Hailsham. FHL 1364156. Children were ??? William 1821, Eleanor 1819, Henry 1826, John 1823. (from the census). John Richardson died 13 Mar 1850 at Hailsham, Ruth 11 Dec 1875 at Hellingly.
2. Email from Val Bray [valjoy.bray@yahoo.com.au] October 22, 2006: The children of Ruth Osborne and John Richardson. I have copies of these marriages if you want, children are from the census 1851,1861:
1. Eleanor had a son, William James Richardson in 1844, married William Dray 24 Nov 1846. They had a son, Richard about 1849.

3. John married Harriett Fowler 19 Jun 1856. They had a daughter, Ellen Ruth about 1857
4. Henry married Jane Fowler 23 Oct 1847.They had daughters, Elizabeth, 1848, Mary Jane 1857.
3. Email from Val Bray [valjoy.bray@yahoo.com.au] Dec. 3, 2006: William Richardson (f. John m. Ruth Osborne) born 1821, married Jane Maria Bean on 20 Dec 1851. Children, John born 1852. Jane died in 1857 and William married Phebe Beartup in 1859. Their children were Sarah Jane 1860, Mary Ann 1862, James 1870. In the 1881 census William and Phebe are on their own at Herstmonceaux, Mary aged 18 is a dressmaker in Eastbourne. There is a James Richardson aged 11 at the Brighton Industrial School with two siblings, Minnie aged 11 and Ruth aged 8. Was this an orphanage? I have a death for a William Richardson in 1885 and Phebe Richardson in 1886. It is such a common name. I will send for some certificates to check.

5. Email from Val Bray [mailto:valjoy.bray@yahoo.com.au], April 01, 2007:
I have a correction to the family of William Richardson and Phoebe Beartup. Phoebe died on 4 Jan 1886 at Wartling, SSX aged 52 from abdominal tumours. William was the informant. William died in 1909 not 1885. Also James Henry, their son, born 1870 at Hove, died aged 1 year in 1871. All the information about the James aged 11 in 1881 is wrong.
Eleanor Richardson (married to William Dray 24 Nov 1846) died on 20 Jun 1892 at the Gatehouse, Chiddingly, aged 73 years from valve disease of the heart. The informant was William Dray. He died in 1899. Their only child, Richard Dray (born 1849), married Agnes Bridget Vaughy in London in 1875. He died in 1898. He was a Tobacconist / Newsagent.
Elizabeth Richardson (father John Richardson, mother Ruth Osborne) born 1817, married Charles Whiting 13 Feb 1837. Charles Whiteing died on 15 Oct 1900 at 22 Lansdowne Place, Hove, aged 86 years from plyoric obstruction. E.
A. Whiting, daughter, was the informant.

Per copy of death certificate on file from the General Register Office: Hailsham Sub-district, Hailsham District, Sussex County, 1850, No. 229: Died 31 Mar 1850 at Hailsham, John Richardson, 66 years old, labourer, died of thyphoid 10 days, reported 6 Apr 1850 by Mary Limany? present at the death in Hailsham.
