On this individual, he notes name as John James Prater, b. abt. 1768 in Laurens Co., SC with death bef 5 Jan 1824 in Laurens Co. (alt. date bef. 18 Nov 1823). Parents are shown as Basil Pitts Prater and Priscilla Swearingen, both of Maryland but with death in Laurens Co. He surmises a marriage of abt 1795 in Laurens Co.
