      3. David Fry, a descendant of David Frederick through is daughter Mary Elizabeth Frederick Gibbs has four pages of dog-eared pages from a family bible which he believes to be David's. There is no other known extant samples of David Frederick's handwriting except for his signature when he was in his 70's on his Mexican War pension application forms. There is no publisher nor publishing date. David received them through his mother. His contact info is 195 Shady Hill Lane, Double Oak, TX, 75077, 817-430-9432, . I am not convinced that the bible was fully in David's possession his whole life since it was passed down through his daughter Mary Ellen/Elizabeth Frederick Gibbs. The names are heavily slanted towards the Evarts extended family and not Ingersolls nor Winners; Evarts would be Mary E.'s main interest of course since her mother was Polly Evarts, David's first wife. As for David's wife Mary Ann Winner, his last, it only gives the birth of one child and not the others which seems suspicious if it were in his possession at that later time. The bible was probably with David with his first two wives and their children since they were all born and correctly recorded before the Nauvoo exodus. After the exodus from Illinois, David separates from his daughter when he joins the Mormon Battalion, hence the brevity of information on events beyond Nauvoo. Even Mary Ann Winner's death is not noted whereas it is for his first two wives. Also note the wording of David's two wives' death; example "Polly Evarts the wife of David Frederick..." The use of "the" wife sounds more third person. Another concern would be the custody of the book; David lived the last part of his life and died at his son David Jr.'s home which would make one think that if it was with David, it would have been passed down through his son's line. The bible was probably given to Mary, David's only daughter with him in Iowa, when he joined the Battalion. It apparently remained with her. There are 36 entries of which I cite David Frederick's siblings as follows [with my notes bracketed]:
Abraham G. Frederick married to Miss Adelia Annis Oct. the 16th AD 1825. [David's brother.]
David Frederick was born September the 15th AD 1801.
Abraham G. Frederick was born Nov. the 27th AD 1802. [David's brother.]
Adelia Frederick was born April the 3rd AD 1809. [Wife to Abraham.]
Oliva A. Frederick was born March the 21st 1827. [Abraham and Adelia's child.]
Abram C. Frederick was born May the 13th 1829. [Abraham and Adelia's child.]
Ambrose Frederick was born Oct. the 14th AD 1818. [Probably David's brother.]
Matthew Frederick was born April 14th AD 1820. [Probably David's brother.]
Peter F. Frederick dide[sic] March the 27th AD 1827 in the 17 year of his age.
Abraham G. Frederick dide Febuary the 20th AD 1830 in the 27th year of his age. [David's brother.]

      4. Matthew is probably one of the uncles in Michigan referred to in the following transcription of a letter from David Frederick living in San Bernardino, to daughter Mary in Utah, April 18, 1853; original with David Fry:
"My daughter Marry, I improve the opertunity of writing a few lines. I am well and hav enjoned the blessing of health ever sinsens I came to this place and I hope that you are injoying the same. I did not write the last mail, it left so soon I had not time.
