      2. Email from Val Bray [mailto:valjoy.bray@yahoo.com.au], Aug 22, 2006: My information from Folkington, Sussex (very close to Arlington) came from FHL film 1364154, and the Sussex Marriages Index (a CD issued by the Sussex Family History Group from parish registers).
Eleanor (bapt. 5 Dec 1791 Arlington) married Richard Dennis (born Folkington) on 30 May 1811 at Arlington. Children were ??? Eliza, Ann 1824, James 1826, Sophia 1828. (from the census). Eleanor died 2 Sep 1837 at Folkington, Sussex.

      3. Email from Val Bray [mailto:valjoy.bray@yahoo.com.au], April 01, 2007:
"Eleanor Osborne (bapt.5 Dec 1790) married Richard Dennis 30 May 1811 at Arlington. I have found some of their missing Children. Ruth was bapt. 10 Jun 1811, Naomi 3 Oct 1812, both at Hailsham (FHL 1364156). Harriet 27 Aug 1820, Delia 15 Nov 1822, Alice (Ann ?) 26 Dec 1824, James 16 Apr 1826, Sophia 27 Mar 1828, William 17 Oct 1830 (buried 11 Jun 1831), Daniel 8 Sep 1833 (buried 28 Apr 1834), all at Folkington. (FHL 1364155) There is still a gap, 1813-1820 but as Richard gave his address as West Dean when he married I will try there next. When Eleanor and Richard died their informant was Eliza, daughter, so I've yet to find her.
James Dennis (father Richard mother Eleanor Osborne) bapt. 16 Apr 1826, married Frances Carter on 22 Mar 1860 at Folkington. Their children were William bapt. 9 Aug 1860, Charles 17 Aug 1862, David 22 Nov 1863, Mary 22 Jan 1865, Martha 6 May 1866, all at Folkington. (FHL 1364155 Amy 1868, (died 1869) Richard 1870, Catherine 1871, Walter 1873, all at Frocester in Gloucestershire. James died in 1875 at Frocester. In the census of 1861 and 1871 he is shown as an ag. lab. After his death, in the 1881 census Fanny is shown a shopkeeper."

      CHRISTENING:
      1. Source of christening information from extracts of the Registers of Arlington Parish Church, Sussex, England from 1700 onwards by correspondence (copy on file) of 30 Nov 1953 from George Mitchell of Berwick Rectory, Nr. Polegate, Sussex. Cover letter reads: "In reply to your request for information about the Osborne family, I have searched the Registers from 1700 onwards, and find the entries given on the enclosed sheet. It is unfortunate that the marriage entries are so few, but it must be remembered that marriages usually take place in the woman's parish, and there is no means of finding out where this might be apart from inspecting the registers of the district. I have no record at all under the name of Daw; Con Osborne is married to Sarah Coleman in his 24th year, but if this is the Sarah who died in 1806, he may have married again between 1806 and 1813, though for the reason given the marriage would not be in the Arlington Registers. I have an older Register going back to 1609, but I have not searched this; it is in latin, and would take some time to go through... There is no one of the name of Osborne in the parish now, and my oldest inhabitants cannot remember any family of this name. The parish, which still covers about 24 square miles, was twice as large until 1845, when a 'daughter' parish was carved out of it, and it may be that there are entries after this year in the records of that Parish... If you are interested in 'your old Church,' I may say that it is an unusually fine one, and dates back before the landing of the Conqueror..." He also notes: "It is more than likely that 'Osborne' and 'Osborn' are the same family, and 'Edward' and 'Edmond' may be the same person."
      Baptisms:
1791 Dec 5, Eleanor, dau. of Edw. and Ann Osborn.
