French, comp. by Coralee Griswold [Wethersfeld, CT; 1999]. The authors standardize spelling as Greswold for England and Griswold for America. As of 2012, it appears that this book is the most current evolution of the Griswold ancestry and includes all previous research up to 1999 when it was published. (It also supersedes the author's own work in 1990 for the later English generations). "Ralph2 (Rudolphus [Rudolphus, in Latin records.]) Greswold (John1) was born in Solihull, Warwickshire, England. He married Margaret Dadley. Pemberton says (p.33) the "Manor House" [Twentieth century pretension promoted it to a manor house] so called was the original seat of the Greswolds in Solihull. [Joy Woodall says the Manor House was built about 1485 which would be 100 years or more after the time of Ralph.] Before the present century, it was called the "Lime Tree House" from several lime trees which stood near the front door. Also, the neighboring house was built by Richard Greswold in 1571. The closest available Richard in Solihull was Richard10, son of Roger9 (c.1504-1545) [See Chapter 4, p. 43]. They had 1 Child: i. Richard Greswold, of Solihull."
