Email dated 5 May 2015 from family researcher Rose Green :
"I found someone doing a project on this migration pattern:
Website http://www.mueller-heppenheim.de/tiroler1.htm (accessed 5 May 2015) entitled "Migration history: Contribution to Immigration by Tyroleans in the Pfalz and in adjacent territories 1650-1750," by Dr. Hermann Müller, Heppenheim an der Bergstrasse. This website is in German by can be translated by Google.
Apparently the word "Tirol" to postwar (30 Years War) Germany is what "Palatine" is to America. It doesn't necessarily mean Tirol itself, but could also include other regions. Here is (translated) their explanation of the term: "The term "Tiroler" is used here as a collective term for all immigrants from the Western Austrian alpine region of the time regardless of the current expansion of the Austrian province of Tyrol and the Italian province of South Tyrol. Hence immigrants from Vorarlberg, the Allgäu and Oberschwaben be considered Tiroler."
Here are some names from this site that have been identified in church records as "Tiroler," this batch from the Furth Familienbuch (Fürth im Odenwald -- Ludwig Knapp: Familienbuch Fürth 1663 - 1712).
