    • RESEARCH_NOTES:
      1. Search of 1881 British Census for Ann Charlton 10 years either side of 1813 was unsuccessful.

      2. Reviewed Ancestry.com 23 Nov 2002.

      3. LDS IGI shows an extracted marriage record for George Boyd and Ann Charlton md. 1 Aug 1835 at All Saints, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England. The 1841 and 1851 shows approximate birth dates for Ann as 1821 and 1841 respectively. She appears to be deceased by the 1861 census. The 1851 census shows her birthplace as Rodbery, Northumberland. She does not appear to be this same Ann Charlton because of the age and the location of the marriage.

      CHRISTENING:
      1. Online Ordinance Index has the following extracted record showing Ann christened per FHL film # 593804. Also in the Durham Records Office, I found a book called "Stella Roman Catholic Church, Baptisms 1775 - 1832." The church records are written in Latin as follows: "Die 21 Augustie 1809 nata & 28 Baptizata fiut... Anna filia Thoma & Elizabeth Charlton (olim Ferguson) conjugum, (witness Maria Lock)." Each christening is divided by town location title. Before Ann Carlton is "Heddon-on-the-Wall" at St. Thomas Aquino Roman Catholic, Stella, Durham, England. County Durham directly adjoins County Northumberland. There is no Catholic church in Heddon-on-the-Wall and this particular church is just a few miles southeast of Heddon-on-the-Wall. The god parent listed for Ann is Maria Lock. Sister Elizabeth is also baptized in the same church, but no other siblings are found therein. It is interesting that the Charlton parents are buried in the Established Church whereas some of their children were baptized in a Catholic Church.
