"Monumental inscriptions in St. Peter's Church, extracted from 'The History, Gazetteer, and Directory of the County of Derby,' Vol., II, Part I, by Stephen Glover, 1829: In the south asile of this church ... is engraven [on an alabaster slab], the effigies of a man and his wife, in scroll lines. This is for Ralph Bancroft, and Alice, his wife, without date. Two others for the same family; the inscriptions on them are nearly obliterated:
