      1. The website http://members.aol.com/ ht a/wreitwiesn/candidates2004/kerry.html indicates that the Democratic presidential 2004 candidate John Kerry is a direct descendant of this couple.

      2. From researcher David C. Mudge of Burlington, N.J. per 21 Dec 2001 email from Ellen Baker [dab@3-cities]: Parents are Micah Mudge and Mary Alexander who were married in Northampton, Mass. 23 Sep 1670. They were among the original settlers of Northfield, MA, but the Indians burnt their village and drove them off in 1675, as they were dissatisfied with the amount of the original payment in 1671. a deed was sisnged by Micah Mudge and two others on behalf of the settlers in 1682 paying the Indians additional moniews wher upon they were allowed to resettle Northfield. He moved to Lebanon, CT about circa 1698 and having had some experience as a surveyor assisted in laying out the town. He moved to Hebron, CT in the fall of 1717 where he stayed until his death in 1724. Their children: Mary - b. 8/8/1671; Elizabeth, b. 10/10/1673; Sarah; Moses; Abigail, m. William Phelps; Ebeneezer, b. 2/26/1683; Thankful, b. 1685.

      "William Phelps, b. Windsor, Ct., 4 Feb 1669, m. 1st Abigail Mudge, who. d. Windsor, Ct., 24 Apr 1705. he m. 2nd, Ruth Barber, 18 Apr 1706, dau. of Samuel and Mary (Coggens) Barber, she b. Windsor, 24 Jul 1683, where she died 2 Aug 1747. Mr. Phelps settled in Windsor, Ct., where he died 1733.
      Children b. Windsor by 1st wife, Abigail Mudge.
