  RESEARCH_NOTES: 1. The book "The Phelps Family of America and their English Ancestors," comp. by Oliver Seymour Phelps of Portland, Oregon and Andrew T. Servin of Lenox, Massachusetts, 1899, pp. 220: "Lydia Phelps, b. Hebron CT, 1 Mar 1738, m. Job Stiles, Jr., 30 Mar 1758 (son of Job Stiles of Colchester), where he settled, and where we find birth of one child b. Colchester, CT: Hepsebia (Stiles), b. 17 Jun 1759." 2. Unsure of husband's correct name: Joseph or Job. If Job, most databases seem to indicate he was first cousin to Lydia being the son of Job Stiles and Anna Bliss. For now, I assume Job as the first cousin. 3. Mary Stiles Guild, "The Stiles family in America: genealogies of the Massachusetts family, descendants of Robert Stiles of Rowley, Mass., 1659-1891" (Albany, NY: Joel Munsell's Sons, 1892), 192-93.
