    • RESEARCH_NOTES:
      1. The book "The Phelps Family of America and their English Ancestors," comp. by Oliver Seymour Phelps of Portland, Oregon and Andrew T. Servin of Lenox, Massachusetts, 1899, pp. 220:
"Asabel or Asahel Phelps, b. Hebron, CT, 28 Apr 1743, probably m. Jemima Buell. Mr. Phelps was a farmer. Appears to have settled in Hebron, CT, for a short time. Children b. Hebron, CT.
      I. Asahel, b. abt. 1765, m. Hope Hosford.
      II. Aaron."

      2. Upon further research using Findagrave for the gravestones in Century Cemetery, it becomes apparent that Jemima is actually Jemima Post and not Buell. There is no Jemima Buell in the Hebron area in the timeframe we are looking at. Buell has been perpetuated by the above quote which was tentative to begin with.
