  RESEARCH_NOTES: 1. Shows up in his children's christening records with surnames Olufsen or Mørkes or Mørch (which means "dark one"). 2. LDS databases from circa 1950 to 2013 inadvertently combined elements of both families. A study of the FHL films 53030 (Ydby Church) and FHL 53193 (Sonderhaa Church) indicate that they are separate men. Jens Olufsen (aka Mørkes or Mørch) is always so named in the christening records of his children which also indicate that he lived at Dover within Ydby. Jens Foged (aka Fogetz) moved to Dover from Sonderhaa before the christening of his last two children in Ydby (Oluf in 1746 and Thomas in 1751). He is always identified in the Ydby record with only the surname Foged or Fogetz. Jens Foged's wife as identified in the christening records of the children in Sonderhaa is Kirsten Pedersdatter, but the 1780 burial record in Ydby records her as only the wife of Jens Foged. The name of Jens Olufsen's wife is not given in the Ydby christening records. Jens Foged was christened in Ydby, but evidently moved to Sonderhaa before the birth of his oldest children; he then moved back to Ydby ca. 1744. (FHL film 53030 Ydby Church Records, vol. 2, p. 297, notes the 11 Oct 1744 burial of Jens Fogetz of Dover's child Christen age 7 weeks. No christening record is found in Ydby Church Records for the date calculated from the burial record. This may have been the time period (between Aug 1744 and Oct 1744) that Jens Foged moved from Sonderhaa to Dover in Ydby.) More information on Jens Christensen Foged and Kirsten Pedersdatter: Note that in the first two chr. records the father appears as Jens de Foged and the rest as Jens Foged. The mother Kirsten Pedersdatter generally appears in most of the same chr. records. Jens Foged's christening record provides us with his parents Christen Christensen Foged and Inger Jensdatter. The surname Foged is common and multigenerational in the Ydby Church records for this time period. Sources are FHL films 53030 Ydby Church Records and 53193 Sønderhå Church Records.
