      2. Censuses: Even though the following censuses are off slightly on age for Thomas, they certainly must be for Thomas, son of Joseph, because some of Thomas' children are born at Ingo Mill during at least the period 1828 to 1835 where we can place Thomas' father Joseph at the time of his death in 1836. From my visit there in 2009, I found that Ingo Mill is a single farmstead isolated in the country just north of Matfen and northwest of Stamfordham and certainly not a village of multiple families. The censuses then help us put a family together for Thomas as follows:

1841 Eng: Stamfordham, Northumberland, p. 2 of 9, res: Waterloo, all b. in Northumberland:
      Thomas Burnhope, 40, miller.
      Elizabeth, 40.
      Mary, 15.
      Joseph, 14.
      William, 11.
      Thomas, 9.
      Elizabeth, 7.
      Jane, 5.
      John, 3.

      1851 Eng: Benfieldside, Durham, #152, res: Blackhill, p. 49 of 55:
Thomas Burnope, 51, cartman, b. Northumberland, Haydon Bridge.
Elizabeth, wife, 50, b. Northumberland, Sumborn.
Joseph, son, unm., 23, lab., b. Northumberland, Ingoe.
William, son, unm., 21, wagon-man, b. Northumberland, Ingoe.
Thomas, son, unm., 18, miner, b. Northumberland, Ingoe.
Elizabeth, dau., 16, b. Northumberland, Ingoe.
Margaret, dau., 7, b. Northumberland, Matfin [Matfen].

      1861 US: Benfieldside, Durham, #130, p. 35 of 79:
Thomas Burnhope, 60, lab., b. Northumberland, Haydon Bridge.
Elizabeth, wife, 62, b. Northumberland, Swinburn.
William, son, unm., 31, lab., b. Northumberland, Stamfordham.
Thomas, son, 29, unm., shingler, b. Northumberland, Stamfordham.
Margarett, dau., 16, b. Northumberland, Stamfordham.
Isaac Harrison, son in Law, mar., 30, puddler, b. Monmouthshire, Ponthier.
Elizabeth Harrison, dau., mar., 26, b. Northumberland, Stamfordham.
Elizabeth Ann Harrison, gdau., 3, b. Durham, Blackhill.
Thomas Harrison, gson, 10mo., b. Durham, Blackhill.

      3. In addition to children identified in the censuses above, the book "Northumberland County-wide Burial Index 1813-1837," which I reviewed Jun 2009 at the Society of Genealogists in London, shows two deaths for apparently the first born children of Thomas and Elizabeth. Note that they appear to be named for his parents:
-Stamfordham, Joseph Burnip, Matfen, infant, 1824 Mar 8.
-Stamfordham, Elizabeth Burnip, Matfen, 4, 1826 Feb 24.
