      1. Comments on two different John Franks and which one is ours:
Rootsweb.com Worldconnect 13 Jan 2005 database "popfraley" of Vickie Beard Thompson : "They moved to Smith county, Tennessee in about 1809, from Laurens county, South Carolina. They moved to Livingston county, Kentucky about 1830/31. John Franks: Birth: 23 May 1767 in, Laurens, South Carolina: Death: 1838 in, Livingston, Kentucky. Father: Nehemiah Franks. Judah Brown: Death: 1840/1842 in, Livingston, Kentucky." Alternate database "barsmi" shows "Juda Brown" born 7 Jan 1783. Alternate databases also show John Franks' death potentially bef. 1842 at Chrittenden Co., Kentucky; however, the majority shows 1838 in Livingston Co., KY. Several databases show several children generally born in Smith Co., Tennessee from about 1805 to about 1831.
Even though the above information is a bit random, the latter death date of bef. 1842 in Chittenden Co., KY, is most likely correct because of the deed found there date 6 Apr 1842. This date proves the connections between husband and wife as well as seven children.
Some submitters confuse two different John Franks and try to combine both with Sarah Bird being the second wife. This does not work since their children overlap. The 1842 land deeds of the deceased John Franks who married Judith Brown in 1804 prove he is not the same one who married Sarah Bird in 1808 in Edgefield District, SC. This same deed lists his relict Judah Franks, which also proves his last wife was not a Sarah. This second John Franks who married Sarah Bird seems to have ended up in Livingston Co., KY, and died there sometime from 1835 ot 1838 and is apparently confused with our John Franks in the Worldconnect notes above.
The following is an old note found in Family Search with a submitter named KShelton (no contact information). It appears to be a bit random with various Franks who may or may not have some relation. Most important, however, is the 1842 deed in Chittenden co., KY, name the deceased John Franks and his relict wife Judah Franks. It also lists seven of their children. The note as originally presented is as follows:
"A William Frank is on the 1759 Rowan Co, NC tax list.
      1790 Rowan Co, NC Census:
      797: John Frank: 1-1-3-0-0
      798: Martin Frank: 1-2-2-0-0
      795: William Frank: 2-1-6-2-0
Obadiah Paris Sr. purchased land from Matthias Hoover of Rutherford County on 21 Jun 1819. This same Matthias Hoover also sold 416 acres to Little Berry Hughes on 23 Mar 1810, and at that time, Hoover was 'of Rutherford Co, TN'. Interestingly enough, the 65 acres that Obadiah's brother James Paris bought of Elijah Fulks was also originally Matthias Hoover's, per deed of 24 Mar 1810. Witnesses to Hoover deed are Leander Hughes and John Franks. Land is on Mulherin's Creek, bounds a 640 acre tract that Matthias Hoover formerly lived on, containing 129 acres total. On 1 June 1819, John Franks purchased a tract of 92 acres from Matthias Hoover on Mulherin's Creek bound by Hoover's 640 acre tract. Obadiah Paris (Sr.) & Leander Hughes witnessed the deed. On 10 Nov 1819, John Franks sold to Leander Hughes, 20 acres on Mulherin's Creek bound by Frank's boundary lines, witnessed by Obadiah Paris & Robert Williams. On the same date, Joseph Duncan sold to Leander Hughes, 50 acres bound by Matthias Hoover's east boundary line, McDain's line, Duncan's grant, witnessed by Robert Williams and Obadiah Paris again. Deed datd 19 Nov 1830, John Franks to Leander Hughes, 92 acres on Mulherin's Creek, bound by Matthias Hoover's 640 acre tract, witnessed by Little B. Hughes Senr. and James Parris Senr.
