      1. Found 5 Jun 2003 on the Internet site of Dr. Frank O. Clark <http://foclark.tripod.com/francisgilllaurenscosc.html>. [Note Hardiman Deeke is probably his brother-in-law married to a sister of his wife Elizabeth and commonly known as Hardiman Duke - see his notes separately in this database]:
      A. Francis Gill born c1774-1782 died 1818.
      B. 1797 deed Francis Gill from Robert Spence, Book F page 364, 124 acres on Duncan's Creek for Lbs 17. I Robert Spence of Co. of Laurens for Lb. 17 sell 62 1/2 acres to Francis Gill, said land granted to John Williams and conveyed by him to Alexander Manary (Munury?) and by him unto the said Robert Spence, on a branch of Davidson's Creek (plat on the deed). Wit: Robert Rogers, Richard hisRmark Styles. 9 Dec. 1797.
      C. 1808 deed Francis Gill from Hardman Deeke Book J page 10, 118 acres for $118 on Duncan's Creek. Hardiman hisXmark Deeke for $118 paid by Francis Gill sell 118 acres on Duncan's Creek, originally granted to Alex. McMarcy. 16 Apr. 1808. Wit: James Hound and Roger Brown. Duncan's Creek, on Mill's Atlas, is up in the north east portion of old Laurens District.
      D. Francis Gill in the 1800 census: 1m 16-26, 1f 16-26, born 1774-1782, married in Laurens Co., SC to Elizabeth Brown born c1780, daughter of Roger and Jeaney Brown. (Source: Brown Family bible in Laurens Co. Library) Francis and Elizabeth migrated to Smith Co., TN where he died about 1818. I base this date on the will of Roger Brown written in 1818 where he seemed desperate to make sure his daughter, Elizabeth Gill, was sent money as soon as possible. (This may be way off base) Evidently, he sold a horse and sent money to her, after which he wrote a codicil to the will. Roger died around 1826."
