He was a captain in WWII, serving in the Coast Artillery in Panama. He was the only family member to receive a college degree. He married June 29, 1943, Margaret Mary Scott, in Panama... He remarried Feb. 15, 1948, at Tooele, Utah, Helen Grant, born Nov. 10, 1910, at Appleton, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Fred Grant and Bertha Lund. By a previous marriage she had a daughter, Ann Preston Carroll. Doyle and Helen had no children. Helen had nervous eyes; her eyelashes fluttered as she talked."

She was Catholic. Her parents immigrated to Detroit, Mich. Tombstone notes "1st Lieut. Army Nurse Corps, WWII".

      4. Irene Petersen, recalls seeing a photo of Margaret as a nun. As she heard the story, she left her order for her marriage.

      BIRTH:
      1. Both obituaries show age as 31 years which would make birth in 1914. One obituary states 24 Jul 1914 which would make her death the day before her 32nd birthday.

      2. Hanks book show birthdate of 24 Jul 1908 which is contrary to age of 31 shown in obituaries.

      3. Tombstone in Ogden, Utah's Aultorest Cemetery supposedly shows birth as 24 Jul 1908, but it needs to be verified.

      MARRIAGE:
      1. Per obituary.
