- CHRISTENING:
1. Rainham Parish Registers clearly show two consecutive entries for baptisms for William and George Hales, sons of Stephen and Mary Hales, 10 Oct 1822. Stephen is listed as a shoemaker. The sequence of dates is such that there is no question that the month was Oct. This date precedes the commonly accepted birthdate of 30 Oct 1822 for these twins. As noted in George's 1822 LDS Patriarchal Blessing, in his obituary, on his burial record, and on his tombstone, George reported his birth date as 30 Oct 1822. Being that the christening date was more contemporary to the actual event, it is probably the more reliable date. Could it be that the twins were actually born 30 Sep 1822?
