      1. The book, FHL 929.273 w181wf, "A Wampler Family History," by Roy H. Wampler, Chevy Chase, MD, 1999, p. 72, notes under "Unidentified Wamplers" that several Wamplers have records in proximity of other Wamplers but no definitive relationship can be established. One of special interest is: "Hans Adam Wampler and wife. This couple had a daughter, Maria Barbara, baptized in Lebanon Township, Lancaster County (now Lebanon County), PA, on 21 May 1749, with Valentine Kueffer and wife as sponsors. G.M. Shouse, "Wamplers in America," 1981, p. 4, reports that the baptism took place at Hill Lutheran Church, Lebanon Township. A.K. Burgert, "18th Century Emigrants from the Northern Alsace to America," 1992, p. 522, however, reports that the baptism was entered in the records of Quittopahilla Reformed Church, Lebanon County. This Hans Adam Wampler might be a son of Hans Peter Wampler and his wife Anna Veronica, who, like their son Hans Georg (born ca. 1736), did not appear in the baptism records of Alsace."
In his two books, "Wampler Family History 1500s - 1700s," 1986, and "Wampler Family History 1701-1980," 1980, Fred B. Wampler notes Hans Adam as a possible son in the earlier published book but does not mention him in the later book. Genevieve Shouse in the book cited above, p. 4, acknowledges Hans Adam but states no relationship could be provednor additional information could be found. She also notes that there is an Ulrich Wampler listed as a freeman taxpayer in Lancaster County in 1755 (a freeman was a single man over the age of 21 years) who cannot yet be linked exactly to the known Wamplers. Roy Wampler similarly mentions Ulrich as unconnected.
My opinion on this is that it is fairly well established that the German passenger lists were quite complete and only two Wamplers emigrated to America (and both to Pennsylvania) in the 1700's as established in Fred Wampler's 1986 book. Hans Peter Wampler, Sr. came with his family in 1741 and his brother Johann Christian and family came in 1747. The Wampler is not a common name whatsoever. Only males age 16 and older were registered on a ship's passenger list. Ulrich occurs late enough that he could be from either family; however, Hans Adam would have had to been over 16 and registered in 1747 if he was married by 1748 and having a child by early 1749. This would mean that he would more likely have been linked to the earlier 1741 emigration and related to Hans Peter Wampler. This group of Wamplers had several dealings with the Hill Lutheran Church which was actually built for two congregations as quoted below from Shouse's book which answers Roy Wampler's concern about the Lutheran and Reformed churches. There is a proven son, Hans George, who definitely was a son and did not have his birth or baptism recorded in the Alsace before emigration which allows for the same possibility for Hans Adam. There is one concern and that would be exactly where does he fit in with his siblings orderwise. Assuming a marriage age no earlier than 16 in 1748, he would be born no later than 1732. There is a gap of 32 months between Veronica (b. Nov 1726) and Barbara (b. Jul 1729) and 28 months between Barbara and Elisabeth (b. Dec 1732). Most of the other children have roughly 2 years separation, so fitting Adam in is a bit of a squeeze but possible.
I list Hans Adam as a probable son and I arbitrarily assign a birthdate to ca. early 1728. All of this is subject to change if new information is found.

      2. FHL 929.273 W181sh book "Wamplers in America," by Genevieve M. Shouse, pp. 365-6, gives some of the history of the "The Hill Church (Berg Kirche)": "The Hill Church is located four miles northwest of Lebanon, Pennsylvania in North Annville Township. It was built in 1733 and was used jointly by the Lutheran and Reformed congregations. Ref. John Casper Stoever formed the congregation in 1733. Rev. Stoever called it 'the church on the Quittapahilla' because he lived and had a mill on that stream. The Hill Church was the first organization for religious services in what is now Lebanon County and was the first to erect church buildings. According to Egle's history of Lebanon County, '...In 1754, and thereafter, when the Indians made frequent incursions, people often took their guns with them to defend themselves against savages. During divine service men with loaded muskets were placed at the door as sentinels.' The present church, built in 1837, is the third church in the same location. An ancient grave yard adjoins the church and many old markers are long gone. [The book has a picture rendering of the old two story Hill Church.]"
