DEATH:
1. Obituary:
"After a two year courageous fight against brain cancer, Kenneth D Burnhope past away peacefully surrounded by family on March 6, 2017 at age 79. Born October 13, 1937 in Price, Utah, to Thomas Donald and Hazel Bowcutt Burnhope. He married the love of his life Carol Graham on May 10, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had four children; Cindy (Jeffrey) Nielson, Scott K. (Stacy) Burnhope, Diann (Douglas) Boyer and Denise (Colin) Bollschweiler. They have nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Keith Burnhope.
He was raised in Helper, Utah and worked for Utah Power and Light at the Carbon plant, then transferred to the Gadsby Plant, which brought his family to the Salt Lake; worked 31 years before he retired. He proudly served in the Utah Army National Guard for 34 years, held numerous command positions. Everywhere he went made many life long friends.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, camping, fishing, hiking, and riding off roads in his truck. He was at his happiest when he could be in the mountains or with his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life, he would be excited for each one as they made accomplishments, he cried as they were suffering with their trials.
Ken belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many callings, Bishopric, High Priest Group Leadership, High Council and Stake Young Men. He loved to attend the temple and went often.
We would like to thank Quality Home Health and Hospice staff for the tender care they provided over the last 7 months.
We will truly miss our husband, father and grandfather, friend and uncle.
A viewing will be held Friday, March 10 from 6 to 8 PM at the Larkin Sunset Garden, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy UT.
