MARIE C. SPENCER
Marie C. Spencer, 78, a resident of Libby for 58 years died Saturday morning at St John's Lutheran Hospital. Mrs. Spencer was born Mrch 7, 1901 at Charlevoix, Mich. to James and Sarah Mitchell. She was raised in Charlevoix and recieved her education there. She married Vern C. Spencer July 23, 1921 at Charlevoix.
The couple came to Libby in 1921 where she was active in many community and church affairs, serving as a board member and missionary president at the Church of God for many years. She also was past president of the Libby Senior Citizens Center and had been active in the World War I auxiliary.
Her husband Vern preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1978. She continued to make her home in Libby until the time of her death.
Survivors include one son, Forrest F. "Fuzzy" Spencer, Libby; three grandsons, David, Richard, and Laurence Spencer, all of Pocatello, Idaho, and one great-grandson, Tyson, also of Pocatello.
Funeral services were Monday at 3 p.m. at the Vial Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Miller of the Church of God officiating. Pallbearers were Elmer Martin, Duane Johnson, Herman Dolezal, Paul Armstrong, Jerry Bunton, and Maynard Brandt. Honorary pallbearers were Leonard, Ralph, and Kenneth Spencer, and all her many friends. Burial followed in the City of Libby Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Church of God in memory of Marie Spencer.

Vern Spencer Funeral Scheduled tomorrow
Vern C. Spencer, 87, long-time logger and World War I veteran, died Monday at St. John's Lutheran Hospital following a short illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at Vial Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne Cutshall, retired pastor of the Libby Church of God, officiating.
Pallbearers will be David, Richard, Lawrence, Keith, Gary, and Kurt Spencer.
Burial will be in the City of Libby Cemetery, with military graveside honors.
Born Sept. 19,1891, at Attica, Mich., Spencer was raised and attended school in northern Michigan. He came to Libby in 1917 and soon after enlisted in the Army for service in World War I.
He was married to Marie Mitchell July 23, 1921, at Charlevoix, Mich., and the couple moved to Libby, where he was employed as a logger for J. Neils Lumber Company until his retirement in 1958.
Survivors are his wife, Marie, Libby; a son, Forrest F. (Fuzzy) Spencer, Pocatello, Idaho; three grandsons, David, Richard and Lawrence Spencer, and one great grandson, Tyson Spencer, all of Pocatello, and numerous nieces and nephews.
