MARRIAGE:
1. FHL film 1736928 Bishop's Transcript of Newington (next Sittingbourne): "27 Apr 1797 - Henry Hales and Hannah Kitney both of this Parish, by Banns."

BURIAL:
1. I had previously used a burial date of 5 Apr 1829 in Stockbury with an abode in Boxley. There is no such entry in Stockbury per FHL film 1835742 item #1, Bishop's Transcript of Stockbury. I also find that there was a Henry Hales that was buried 5 Apr 1829 at nearby Newington, but that Henry was only 16 when he died. Apparently, all this got garbled up and passed on for years among Hales family. More investigation is needed. I checked the Stockbury records up to 1850 with no success.

MARRIAGE:
1. FHL film 1068615, Warden Parish church records. We know from the burial records that the same Margaret, married to Michael Mewis, was bur. 1773 in Haydon. Haydon Bridge was a subservient chapelry of Warden and all marriages for Hayden at this time were performed only in Warden:
"Mich'l Muse, and Marg't Thompson both of the Chapelry of Haydon in this Parish were married in this church by Banns this Seventennth day of April 1760. By me Wm. Laidman, Vicar." Signed by both spouses with an X in the presence of Joseph Maughan."

BURIAL:
1. Apparently there are two Michael Mewises in Haydon Bridge at one time as the following entries make clear from FHL film 991796, Haydon Bridge church burial records. The first two would be the parents-in-law for Margaret also shown below.
-"24 Feb 1772, Michael Mewis of Haydon Bridge."
-"Ann, widow of the late Michael Mewis of Haydon Bridge, bur. 23 Mar 1772."
-"Margaret, wife of Michael Mewis of Haydon Bridge, bur. 23 Apr 1773." (The 3 in 23 is disputable and may be a 0 to make 20.)
