Kimm, died Friday morning at her Blairstown home of pneumonia following an illness of only a few days. Her husband's death occured six weeks ago. Services will be held sunday at 2.00 p.m. in the Presbyterian church here, with the Rev. J.B. C. Peck conducting the rites. Burial will be in Mound cemetery at Watkins. Six grandsons, who were pallbearers for Mr. Kimm, will act as casket bearers for their aged grandmother Mrs. Kimm was the mother of seventeen children. Emma Schneider, daughter of Gregory and Regina Schneider, was born Feb. 26, 1850, at Deavertown, Ohio, coming to Iowa, when a small child with her parents. She was married Dec.. 26, 1876 at Marengo. the Kimms moved to a farm northeast of Blairstown in 1886 from a place near Norway. They went to Huron, S. D., in 1010 retuning here last year. Fourteen children surviving are: Henry, Archie, Martin, Matt, and Gus H., of Blairstown,«b» Charles of Coggon«/b», Mrs. Laura Hotchkiss and Mrs. Ella Merrifield of Cedar Rapids, Aurthur of Wolsey, S, D., Mrs. Emma Lowe. | 1370 | Notes from Residence event: Watkins Woman, 82, Observes Birthday; Pioneer of Benton - Benton county News - Special to Daily Times - Watkins, Feb. 27 - Mrs. Laura Swick, the last surviving widow of Clair township, Benton county celebrated her 82nd birthday yesterday at her Watkins home. members of the Community church Ladies Aid, in which Mrs. Swick is an Active worker, spent the afternoon with the aged woman and lunch was served. The honor guest was presented a gift. Mrs. Swick was born in Morgan county, Ohio, and came to Iowa with her parents in 1862. She was married to Hudson Swick on March 1, 1871, and the family located here in 1874. she has lived in the same home for 57 years Of the three daughters and five sons born to Mrs. Swick there are two sons living: Herbert Swick of Watkins and Thomas Swick of Blairstown. There are eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren in the family. He grew up in Nebraska and in eastern Montana. He married Jessie V. Lawrence June 24,1934 at Atkinson, Neb. «b»Waldo worked throughout the western United States at a carpenter in construction. he came to Libby in 1954 and worked as a carpenter for St. Regis Paper Co., until his retirement in 1968.«/b» A member of the Church of Jesus christ of Latter-day Saints, Waldo also belonged to the IOOF and the Carpenters and Joiners Union. Waldo is survived by his, Jessie, Libby; two sons, Dawayne, Summer, Wash., and Bob Colfax, Wash.; tow daughters, Vera Tarbert, Ellensburg, Wash., and Rita Coon, Colfax, Wash.; two sisters leone Kirschner, Seattle, and Ione Lillie, Bonner Springs, Kan., and 19 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son DeVere, in 1940. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Friday) at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Elders Ross Koehler and Bill Johnson officiating. Professor Vera Gottlieb, who has died aged 58 after a protracted illness, was professor of drama at Goldsmiths College, University of London, from 1989, an internationally renowned authority on Chekhov and an indefatigable champion of theatre. Born in Cambridge to parents who had recently emigrated from Riga, she attended Camden school for girls, north London, where she first discovered an enthusiasm for theatre, and, in 1964, gained a scholarship to read English and drama at the University of Bristol. After graduating, she was assistant to the literary manager of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) before, in 1970, becoming a full-time lecturer in drama at Goldsmiths College, where she stayed for the rest of her career. She rose through the academic ranks to become Goldsmiths' first professor of drama, and served as head of department from 1992 to 1994, as well as research professor from 1996. Gottlieb's Chekhov scholarship was noted in 1978 when she was awarded an MLitt for her thesis, "Chekhov: from Farce to Tragi-Comedy." Her subsequent book, "Chekhov and the Vaudeville," (1982), triggered a number of English-language productions of the seldom seen short plays, and remains the only full-length analysis of them in English. She later put together two vaudeville pieces and two short stories, which she translated, as "A Chekhov Quartet" (1990), a production that played in London, Moscow and Yalta. In all her work on Chekhov, Gottlieb was keen to counter the sentimental and nostalgic perception of him in this country by highlighting the vitality of his social comedy and the historical background to his texts. As well as co-editing "The Cambridge Companion to Chekhov" (2000), she also edited and translated "Anton Chekhov at the Moscow Art Theatre" (2005), a sumptuous collection of production photographs and her last book. Her concern for the interaction of theory and practice can be seen in "Theatre in a Cool Climate" (1999), a collection of essays she co-edited with me that offered a snapshot of contemporary theatre at the turn of the millennium, written by a diversity of theatre administrators, managers and artists. Gottlieb brought to Goldsmiths people from the professional theatre, such as Richard Eyre, Genista McIntosh, Peter Hall, Francis de la Tour and Harold Pinter, and, in 2004, became inaugural director of the Pinter centre for research in performance at the college. Her theatrical work underpinned this practical approach; with Robert Gordon, she founded the Magna Carta Theatre Company in 1984, dedicated to staging new plays, and she was co-director and co-author of its first two shows, "Red Earth" (1985) and "Waterloo Road" (1987). She also acted as a script consultant for RSC and Channel 4 productions. Gottlieb carried through her view of theatre as a living activity to the inner workings of her scholarly discipline. As chair of the University of London board of studies in drama (1988-90), she set up a working party that formulated university-wide criteria for the evaluation of practice as research. In 1992, she was able to exert a national influence on this - as well as on other major topics - as a member of the first drama panel in the higher education research assessment exercise, a panel that she chaired with characteristic rigour, fairness and adherence to principle. In 1988, she wrote an incendiary article, "Thatcher's Theatre: Or, After Equus," lambasting the British scene. Gottlieb followed this up with a symposium on "problems of contemporary theatre," which brought together eminent speakers from Russia and Britain. "Jimmy" was the third child born to Cary Jasper and Karen Jasper while they were attending naturopathic medical school in Oregon. Jimmy had a thirst for knowledge and excelled academically. Jimmy had a passionate spirit and enjoyed discussing business, politics, and religion with anyone who could keep up with his intellect. Jimmy was also a very charming young man who shined in high school. He was on the West Anchorage High School debate team and had a passion for flying and snow machining. Like many kids, Jimmy loved music and was a gifted musician, composing music for the piano and entertaining family and friends. During high school, Jimmy began to insist on being called Frank in homage to his grandfather. Frank graduated from West Anchorage High School in 1999. Little Jimmy's inquisitive and adventurous spirit lived on as Frank loved to travel and experience foreign cultures. As Frank grew to be a man, his courageous heart knew no fear. After high school, Frank pursued his dream of living abroad in Mexico where he learned to speak Spanish as a native and where he developed a deeper appreciation for his family. Frank always cherished his family and kept his siblings and cousins close wherever his adventures took him. Although fiercely independent, Frank was also sensitive and compassionate. He was an easy friend and marked his passage through life with selfless love, loyalty and persistent optimism through adversity. His charming smile could lighten the darkest room, and his gregarious laughter and sparkling blue eyes could persuade and disarm any opponent. After returning to the United States, Frank owned several investment properties in Melbourne, Florida. Frank returned to Anchorage in 2007 to work as a glazier in the Petersen family business. | 1391 | OBITUARY: Luceile Tarbert Funeral services were conducted at the Vial Funeral Home Thursday for Luceile Tarbert, 66, who died of an apparent heart attack Oct. 17. Bishop Bill Perry and Ross Koehler, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, officiated at the 2 o'clock service. Michelle Hartly was organist and accompanied Henriette Brumbaugh, who sang "In the Garden" and "Abide With Me." Pallbearers were Ernest, Donald, Leonard and Kimber Tarbert andDick and Rick Bell. Burial Followed in the City of Libby Cemetery. Mrs. Tarbert was born April 14, 1917, at Libby, to Ernest and Mabel Spencer. She grew up in Libby and received her education here. She married LeRoy Tarbert on June 22, 1936 at Libby. She was employed as a switchboard operator for the General Telephone Company form many years, and was chief operator at the Libby office. She later transferred to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where she worked until she retired in 1981. She returned to Libby in 1982. Mrs. Tarbert is survived by her husband, LeRoy, Libby; a daughter, Thelma Bell, Sugar City, Idaho; four sons, Ernest, Libby; Donald, Ellensburg, Wash.; Leonard, Thompson Falls and Kimber, Copperas Cove, Texas; three brothers, Kenneth, Ralph and Leonard Spencer, all of Libby; 24 grandchildren and 12 great grand children. | 1392 | OBITUARY:Mrs. Rosa Sophia Bausch, 88-year-old resident of Atkinson, died at her home in this city at 2:40 o'clock Monday afternoon, Oct. 25. She had been in ill health for about a year..Mrs. Bausch was the widow of the late Philip Bausch who operated a blacksmith shop in Atkinson from 1915 until his death in 1928. They came to this community 54 years ago and lived on a farm until 1915, when they moved to town..Mrs. Bausch resided in the south part of town with her son Charles..Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson. The Rev. E. G. Hughes, pastor of the Methodist Church, conducted the rites. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery..Serving as pallbearers were Mrs. Bausch's grandsons, Herman and Harold Bausch, both of Leigh, Glenn Lawrence of Central City, Oscar Hall of Leigh, Bert Lawrence and Don Saltz both of Atkinson..Obituary..Rosa Sophia Schneider was born at Marengo, Ia., on March 29, 1864. She was a daughter of George and Rachel Schneider..She was united in marriage to Philip Bausch at Watkins, Ia., August 25, 1882 and they went to Miller, S.D., in that year to make their home. After living at Miller for 16 years, they moved to a farm north of Atkinson, Neb., in 1898. They moved to Atkinson a blacksmith shop here until his death July 18, 1928..Mrs. Bausch died October 27, 1952, at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 27 days She was the last surviving member of a family of eight children, three brothers and four sisters having preceded her in death. A daughter, Martha, also preceded her in death at the age of a year and a half..She is survived by one daughter and four sons. They are Mrs. Albert J. (Caroline) Lawrence, Sr., Weaver and Charles Bausch, all of Atkinson, Forest Bausch of Monrovia, Calif., and Edward Bausch of Leigh. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.. Coming from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bausch. | 1394 | On Saturday evening Mr. Montague, a son-in-law of Gus. Kimm, was drowned while fishing in the Iowa river, near Amana. he leaves a wife and three small children. Page 5 ---- Watkins - 21 June 1998 What proved to be a sad ending to a pleasure trip occurred Saturday night. Roy Montague, Henry Boone and Gus Kimm of Blairstown went to the Iowa river fishing Saturday afternoon. While wading out into the river for some cause, Roy Montague was seized with a cramp and sank. After about seven hours search he was found in about twelve feet of water. Roy leaves a wife and three children to mourn their loss. The remains were buried yesterday afternoon in the cemetery southeast of Norway. Mr. Boone in trying to rescue Roy came near forfeiting his life in the attempt. In wading out he got beyond his dept and as he could not swim he went down but was rescued by the aid of a long pole in the hands of Mr Kimm. ------- Norway -20 June 1896 On Friday last ex-Supervisor W.. A. Kimm, a son, L. Boone and his son-in-law, went to the colonies from here, for an outing. Friday night they went in swimming in the Iowa river, just below the race, where the water is very deep and forms an eddy in the river. Roy Montague lost his balance and got into the deep water and went down. Mr. Kimm became excited and went in after him. he was unable to swim and he, too, did not come up for a time but was finally pulled out by the others. Mr Boone, although a fair swimmer, also nearly lost his life, but was pulled out by means of a rope which was thrown to him. Help was at hand in a few minutes and nearly all from two of the colonies turned out with drag nets and hooks searching for the missing man. It was not until towards Saturday morning that he was found near the place where he was seen to go down. Mr. Montague was a young man about 28 years of age and was born in this neighborhood, where he attended school. He was married a few years ago to Miss Ella Kimm and with three children lived on a farm west of Watkins. The funeral takes place today from his late residence. it was a sad shock to the community, where he has many friends, and the sympathy of all goes out to the young widow and her fatherless children. ---------- Walford - June 21, 1898 Yesterday at about 3 p.m. in Linewood cemetery took place the interment of the earthly remains of Roy Montague, who met death in such a sad accident last week. the vault was thoughtfully decorated with a multitude of flowers. there was an unusually large attendance of sympathizing friends, both from this place and Blairstown. | Montague, Leroy (I3033)

He is a farmer and a traveling man. May 14, 1867, he married Mary I., oldestt daughter of Edward T. Squires, of Alexander.
