    • RESEARCH_NOTES:
      1. Email from Val Bray [mailto:valjoy.bray@yahoo.com.au], Aug 22, 2006: My information from Folkington, Sussex (very close to Arlington) came from FHL film 1364154, and the Sussex Marriages Index (a CD issued by the Sussex Family History Group from parish registers).
      Mary (bapt. 16 Nov 1783, Arlington) married Jesse Piper from Hellingly at Arlington, FHL 1364150 on 6 Aug 1810. Children were Thomas 1811. (from the census). Mary died 9 Oct 1863 in Hellingly.

      2. Email from Val Bray [valjoy.bray@yahoo.com.au] October 22, 2006: Thomas Piper, born about 1811, father Jesse, mother Mary Osborne, married 1. Harriett Hollamby 21 Oct 1835 (died before 1841) 2. Hannah Firrell 10 Dec 1847. They had a son, James about 1850.

      3. Email from Val Bray [valjoy.bray@yahoo.com.au] Dec. 3, 2006: Jesse Piper (married to Mary Osborne 6 Aug 1810). He died on the 22 Oct 1853 at Hellingly in the registration district of Hailsham. He was a bricklayer aged 75 years, and died from Hepatic derangement. Mary Piper was present at the death. They seemed to have had only one child, Thomas, born in 1811.

      Thomas Piper (father Jesse mother Mary Osborne) born 1811, died 1887. Hannah (Firrell) died on 20 Sep 1882 at Upper Dicker, Hellingly aged 57 years fron cirrhosis. J.M. Piper, daughter-in-law was the informant. This is Jane Masters Woodward, wife of James Henry Piper. In the 1881 census Thomas (69), is with his son John Edward and his wife Fanny (Fletcher) at Horley in Surrey. Also there is Sarah Piper (26) and Jesse G. (18) John Edward is shown as a Draper and Grocer."

      CHRISTENING:
      1. Ancestry.com's "England and Wales Christening Records, 1530-1906": Jesse Piper, chr. 31 Aug 1777 at Burwash, Sussex, England with parents William and Ann Piper. Burwash is about 15 miles from Hellingly.
