    • RESEARCH_NOTES:
      1. Email of 16 Feb 2006 from Andrea Spatz [a_spatz@hotmail.com]: "I am researching my family tree and came across your entry for Nancy Horrell. I think that she maybe the sister to one of my gggg grandfather. I have a John Boyd Horrell whose father is Thomas Horrell whose father is John Boyd Horrell. The younger John Boyd and Thomas are from Napa, but moved to Shasta County. The elder John Boyd is from PA but moved to Napa with his wife Elizabeth. It seems to match with the info you put down for Nancy's family. I believe that the email that was sent to you by Jim Morrison was correct, at least it filled in a lot of holes that I had in my researches. I think the "sons" spoken of in the obit referred to her sons with John and not the sons John had with his previous wife (also named Elizabeth). (I also show John & Elizabeth in Napa on the 1870 Census living next door to Thomas).

      BIOGRAPHY:
      1. Napa Daily Register [newspaper for Napa, CA], Mar. 4, 1880 US: "Real estate transactions for week ending March 5th: L. Wilson to Nancy L Wilson: portion of block 5, Hill's addition to Napa City - Love and affection and $1."

      2. The Napa Register [newspaper for Napa, CA], Oct. 3, 1890: "Death of 'Aunty' Horrell. Mrs. Elizabeth Horrell, known throughout the community as 'Aunty' Horrell, wife of John Horrell of this city, died at the home of the family on Calistoga avenue shortly after five o'clock Tuesday evening. For some time past she had been gradually failing and death was not unexpected. Her end was peaceful and easy. Deceased was born in Bedford county, Pennsylvania, July 8th, 1802, and was the mother of fifteen children, of whom two sons and one daughter survive her. The sons reside in the east and the daughter (Mrs. Winner) lives in St. Helena. She had lived in Napa with her husband, who also survives, for thirty-six years, and was loved and respected by all who knew her. A large circle of friends will mourn her decease. The funeral took place Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from the Methodist Episcopal church."

Berry, V.D.M. in Napa City and witnessed by J.B.
