"Edmund Wells. Second son of Edmund and Mary (Howell) W. of Hebron, CT and Cambridge, NY, born 30 Aug. 1746, Hebron, CT; was town clerk of Cambridge, NY: 1777-1781, 1789-1805; in the Revolutionary War, he served as private and sergeant; VanWoert's regiment, Albany Co., NY militia; was a Yale College graduate 1768; m. Feb. 1770, Hebron, CT (Bailey's "Early CT Marr.") to Welthia Ann Goodrich, dau. of Samuel and Elizabeth (Whiting) G. of Wethersfield, Hartford Co., CT, b. 24 Sept. 1750 at Wethersfield, and died 11 Sept. 1814 in 65th yr., in Cambridge, Washington Co., NY; he died 17 Sept. 1826 at the Wells's homestead, Cambridge, where buried 26 Sept., age 80 yrs. and 7 days, in the cemetery on the Turnpike, south of the village of Cambridge. [Book includes a photo of a house with the following caption: "Edmund Wells house - known informally at "The Wheel House" from the design on the front. Includes a log house built c. 1770."]
