    • RESEARCH_NOTES:
      1. Website of Peter Bruce Herzenberg of London, England (since relocated to South Africa). Website is no longer functioning as of 7 Aug 2007. Copies of much of his data from the website in my possession. He indicates references by codes, which pertain to the original source and file held in his database, which I have not seen. I have no key to the sources except HL is Leonardo Herzenberg, HG is Gail Herzenberg, PC is probably Piltene Cemetery records, LA is probably Latvian Archives, FA is probably Aleksandrs Feigmanis (Latvian researcher hired by Harold Hodes), and YL is Len Yodaiken (Israeli researcher hired by Harold Hodes); however, he lists the main researchers and their contributions in a lengthy report which I include in full in the notes of the earliest Herzenberg of this database. In regards to this individual:
      HW shows b 3 Jul 1887 and d. 22 Jun 1937, m. Odes.

      5. Email dated 18 Mar 2010 : "My name is Lucille Maitino and my maiden name was Kichler. My mom's Theresa Miriam Herzenberg (1913-2007). Her father was Rudolf Herzenberg (1887-1937) and mother, Cecelia Dorothea Odes (1892-1936). Before my Mom died we had been working on our family tree. I have been continuing to work on it with my sister, Sirry, and she came upon your site. I have some names and dates that don't match on your site. I will be happy to share what I have learned through my mom. Please contact me in Livermore, California, 925-449-1779."

      6. Email dated 12 Apr 2010 from Lucille Maitino, granddau. of Rudolf Herzenberg
"Rudolf and Cecelia were married in 1912 in Johannesburg. I have a wedding picture, or I think it was an engagement pic. I know my granparents are buried outside Johannesburg but am not sure of the name.
I was only aware of three children. Theresa 1913-2007, Milton 1916-1968? and Rita 1923-1995?.
My Uncle Miltie married Florence (?). They have 4 children:
      a. Rudolf Herzenberg b.1942 - married Roberta Schwartz and has two kids (live in NY I think)
      b. Cheryl b. 1944 - married Paul Ide, no children (live in Connecticut I think)>
      c. Corinne b. 1948 (the one I'm in contact with) - married Arthur Herbst, have two children, Jared and Matthew (all live around Atlanta, Georgia).
      d. Howard b. 1952? married Adele (?) and have two children, Josh and Michelle (all live in NY).
Rita married Jimmy Cohen in Johannesburg around 1950? and they have two children:
      a. Glenda b. 1953? married Michael Gelgor and one son, David and they all live around Dallas, Texas."
[The statement of Roberta SCHWARTZ of the above email was subsequently modified as follows on 29 Apr 2010:
"I'm sorry for not getting back earlier. Sirry said Roberta Isaacs could be right. She wasn't sure. I emailed my cousin Corinne, but she hasn't gotten back to me."]

      7. Email dated 4 Dec 2011 from Lucille Maitino, granddau. of Rudolf Herzenberg :
"My Mom had told me many stories of Cecelia Dorothea (Odes) Herzenberg and how she died of a burst appendix when my Mom was only 23. Cecelia (Odes) Herzenberg died when she was only 45 (5/30/1937) and her husband Rudolf died 3 weeks later of a broken heart. (6/22/1937).
I know my Grandfather Rudolf had 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Herman, Leo, Bertha and Clara. I know my Grandfather Rudolf's father was Isaac, and that Isaac had a brother Daniel. I know Daniel had a son Israel and that Israel had 2 sons and 2 daughters, Sammy, Allen, Sybil and Irene. I know many of the cousins from these."
