OBITUARY:
1. "Spanish Fork Farmer Dies of Pneumonia. Spanish Fork. June 29 - John T. Hales, local farmer and stockman, died Sunday following less than a week's illness from pneumonia. Mr. Hales was born in Salt Lake, Feb. 13, 1853, a son of Charles H. and Julia Lockwood Hales. They moved here in 1857. He married Barbara Elizabeth Furlong about 50 years ago. Seven children were born. Two daughters survive, Mrs. Minnie Stagg of this city and Mrs. Maud Webb of Bingham; also 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother - Mrs. A.V. Nelson of this city, Mrs. Josephine Jensen, Rigby, Idaho; Wm. P. Hales, Mapleton; 11 half brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at the First ward chapel at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 30." The Deseret News, Tues. 29 Jun 1926.
2. "Death Calls John J. Hales. Spanish Fork, June 28 - John Taylor Hales, 73, eldest member of the Hales family, and a pioneer settler of this community, died at his home here Sunday of ailments incident to old age. All his life he has been active in the L.D.S. church, and at the time of his death was a member of the High Priests' quorum. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Maud Webb, of Bingham, and Mrs. Minnie Stagg of Spanish Fork. Funeral services will be held in the First ward chapel Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock." Provo Herald, Mon., 28 Jun 1926.
