- RESEARCH_NOTES:
1. Various spellings include Waggle, Wiggle, Wigle, Wygle.
2. Jacob's middle name appears as Sever per online Ordinance Index FHL film 170583, p. 152, in which the names appear as Hannah Wiggle Carson, b. 10 Dec 1843 at Hancock Co., IL to Jacob Seavers Wiggle and Mary Vancel Wiggle. "Ceevers" also appears in the 1880 sealing between his living wife Mary Vancil and himself as deceased. I have not found the name Jacob John Waggle as has traditionally been used by many. His parents may be Jacob Wigle and Julia Ann Sever.
3. Censuses:
1840 US: Union Co., Illinois, p. 47 of 62, two doors away is Young I. Vancil, a brother of Mary Vancil - Jacob's wife:
Jacob Wigle, males under 5:1, 20-30:1; females under 5:1, 20-30:1.
BIOGRAPHY:
1. The book "Mormon Redress Petitions, Documents of the 1833-1838 Missouri Conflict," edited by Clark V. Johnson, contains a copy of the "Scroll Petition" dated 28 Nov 1843 at Nauvoo, IL addressed to the U.S. Congress by members of the LDS Church who had property destroyed by Missouri mobs in the 1830's. Included with over a couple thousand signatures are those of Jacob Waggal.
MARRIAGE:
1. A child, Cynthia Waggle, b. 19 Aug 1837 in Jonesboro,Union, IL is shown in the online Ordinance Index. Cynthia later marries George Washington Bradley whom she divorces. She died 16 Jan 1904 in Nephi, Juab, Utah.
DEATH:
1. The traditional death date of 3 Jan 1845 at Mt. Pisgah, Iowa seems a year too early since the Mormon exodus from Nauvoo, IL, thru Mt. Pisgah did not begin until about Jan 1846. In temple work in the 1880s, his widow has two wives sealed to him in the SGEOR temple and she notes his death as 3 Jan 1844, which is the date I use. This would probably put them in Hancock Co., IL. I surmise death date Thomas Adair reported 1841 in the 1880 temple work is too early since Jacob's daughter Hannah was born anywhere between 1841 to 1844.
