      3. Occupation: woodsman or woodskeeper per christening records of his children. Also Mary Ann Burnhope Wallace indicates: "My ancestors were foresters and brewers." Same is shown in 1841 census.

The said William Burnhope and Mary Oliver both of the Chapelry of Newbrough in this Parish were married in this Church by Banns this tenth day of July 1808 by John Thompson Vic. This marriage was solemnized between us William Burnhope & Mary Oliver (her X mark). In the presence of [and signed by] Francis Thompson & Joseph Burnope. [Joseph Burnhope is probably either his brother or father.]
