451 BIRTH:
1. From the book "Compendium of Early Mohawk Valley Families," by Maryly B. Penrose, v. 1, p. 281, Birth/Baptism:
"Frederick, Jacob and Maria/Maragrita (Young):
Willem, b. 1777, bapt. 16 Apr 1777 (DRC:42) Sponsors: Willem Yong and Rachel Yong.
Eva, b. 4 Apr 1782, bapt. 12 May 1782 (DRC: 62) Sponsors: Peter Fredk. and Alida Fredk.
Maragriet, b. 12 Jan 1785, bapt. ? Feb 1785 (DRC:71) sponsors: Jacob Bossert and Maragrita Bosserd.
Lodowyk, b. 23 May 1791, bapt. 26 Jun 1791, bapt. 26 Jun 1791 (DRC:98) Sponsors: Hendrick Severs and his wife.

2. The booklet on the Frederick family by Mrs. Alida Reed of Gloversville, NY, 1957 (she died Dec 1966) with copies at the Montgomery Co., NY, Archives and a microfilmed copy on FHL film 1312457, item 4). Alida descends through Hans Jacob Frederick and Margaret Young and their son George:
"Margaret, bp. 12 Jan 1785. Sp. Jacob Bosset and his wife, Margaret Bossart, md. John Guttermut (Goodemote). Children:
Jacob, b. 7 aug 1804. Sp. Jacob Frederick and Margaret Young (grandparents). Jacob is the only child as far as we can find, and was mentioned int he Will of Jacob Frederick, who sponsored him."

3. Montgomery County, NY, Archives 19 Sep 2007 visit: Mentioned in the book "Abstracts of Wills of Montgomery County, 1787 - 1831": "Frederich[k], Jacob, of Johnstown, will dated 1-13-1815; probated 5-24-1821. Mentions, - sons Lodowick and Phillip; grandson Jacob Goodemoot. Administratrix appointed, Margaret Frederick. Witnesses: Benjamin Rowland, David I. and Elizabeth Conn."

BIRTH:
1. The actual birth place is unknown. Both Jacob Frederick and Margaret Young were of Warrensbush (now Florida Township) in Montgomery Co. They both did eventually end up in Johnstown, which is about 10 miles max from Mill Point and north across the Mohawk River. When they moved is not known except that they did buy land there at Keck Center in 1792. They may have been paying quit-rent on the property before then since it was about the early 1790 when many of the landowners were finally selling the quit-rented land. Alida Reed in her booklet already referenced elsewhere in these note indicates she believes they moved there shortly after the birth of their first child Peter. She is confident that it may have been no later than when Margaret was born in 1785 because the sponsors at Margaret's birth were Jacob Bossert and his wife Margaret. She says, "In the geneology of the Bossart family (sometimes spelled Boshart and Bushart) we find the first of that family did live in the section of Johnstown that leads to Fonda. So they were probably neighbors." I currently use "of Warrensbush."

CHRISTENING:

Alida descends through Hans Jacob Frederick and Margaret Young and their son George. She has no further information than what I have recorded above.
Frederick, Eve (I1282)

453 BIRTH:
1. From the following records, we can infer a probable son named William, son of "William Allgar the elder." This younger William had a daughter bapt. in 1583, which would make him generally born before 1562; however, since William the elder has known children bapt. in 1560 and 1562, a birth would probably have preceded 1560.
From NEHGS Register, Vol. 55, pages 22-31, 1901, see notes of Robert White for full transcript of article from which the following partial excerpt is taken:

(This date should be double-dated. It could be either 27 Jan. 1657/8 or 27 Jan. 1658/9, most likely the latter. The main transcribers did not address this problem. Huntington ("Stamford Registration," 86) recorded this date as "27, 11, 1658." The Barbour Collection (Stamford: 155), citing Stamford Town Records 1:74, reported this marriage as "11th mo. 27, [16]58." Jacobus (TAG 10:2 [Oct. 1933]:113) extracted it as "27:11:58." Also Huntington ("Stamford Registration," 86) reports an unnamed child of Thomas and Sarah (Elliot) Roberts as being born 25 years after their marriage on "Apr. 1, 1683." The Stamford Town Records contain no such birth record, nor anyone being born on this date.)"

Marriage sealing in the St. George temple has 2 Apr 1810 for birth and 16 Apl 1844 for death, which information would have been given by her husband David Frederick.

1. Tom Kermen's email of 19 Jan 2003, Kermen@att.net, included the following letter from Wanda Hales, aunt of his wife Karen Viola Hales. Wanda indicates the following information was given by Mary Ann Jensen (wife of Orval Woodruff Hales) as told to her by Jemima Ann: "Jemima Ann Adair was born March 27, 1863 at a small town called 'The Muddy' just over the Arizona line. Mother was Ann Chestnut Adair. Father was George Washington Adair. Another family by the name of Carson was at this same place at the same time. Jemima Ann's mother died at the time of her birth and the Carson family had just lost their new born baby. George Adair gave Jemima Ann to the Carson family to raise as their own. The Carson family then moved to Parowan. She always thought they were her parents until she married when she was told her real name. She married Charles Henry Hales the 29th of March 1878 just two days past her 15th birthday. They settled in Kanarra where her first boy was born. She was married in polygamy, the third wife. Two more sons were born to her at Kanarra. In 1885 they homesteaded a farm in Junction where she spent the rest of her life. A daughter, May, died in 1895 at age 6 from a typhoid epidemic. Her husband also contracted typhoid which caused complications and left him a semi-invalid. They bought a town lot and built a large hotel 1902-1903 with the help of her boys. She had eight children including a set of twins. Charles Henry Hales was a carpenter by trade. He built a large recreation hall for the community before he built the hotel. He also made all the caskets for the burials at that time. Charles Henry Hales died in 1908 [error; should be 1907]. Jemima Ann worked hard all her life, first on the farm and later running the hotel. She died Jan. 2, 1919."

2. The obituary in the Deseret Weekly News for Feb. 16, 1895, clearly shows the death was January 30, 1895 and not June 30 as reported on the tombstone [https://newspapers.lib.utah.edu/details?id=2705242&q=ida+may+hales&facet_paper=%22Deseret+Weekly%22] accessed 7 Sep 2018. The tombstone is modern and someone mis-represented the death date on the stone for Ida May.

BURIAL:
1. Per Hales tombstone in Junction Old Cemetery [which is across the street from the New Hilltop Cemetery] apparently placed very recently [older white tombstone still exists] which reads:
Grandfather Charles Henry, Sept. 17, 1848 - Apr. 7, 1907.
Grandmother Jemima Ann Adair, Mar. 27, 1863 - Jan 2, 1919.
Children:
Ida May, Apr. 18, 1886 - June 30, 1895.
George Ammon, Aug. 24, 1879 - Oct. 31, 1897.
I also have on file a handwritten map of this cemetery where someone identified 42 names and their locations. On this list are the four individuals above and they are buried in the northeast corner. None of the other 38 names appear connected to my family history. The compiler of the information does state that the names of many others are long forgotten.

494 BIRTH:
1. The following is the extracted birth record. The date conflicts with the other immediate siblings. The extraction or record may be faulty and the actual year may be 1707 in lieu of 1705.

Stiles (I2304)

495 BIRTH:
1. There is a wide discrepancy in the reported birth years, all which apparently are approximated. They are:
1907 Immigration record 1862
1910 Census 1865
1920 Census 1857
1925 Census 1851
1930 Census 1848
1940 Census 1868
Death Certificate 1868
The average of all these approximations is 1860. I discount the 1848 and 1851 entries as being too early to her known siblings. Some have reported a marriage date of 1877, but on what authority is unknown. Based on the birth of the first known child of 1882, then a calculated birth date of 1862 would be based on being age 19 or older at the time of an estimated marriage of 1881. On the other hand, the 1910 census reports that Brandel had 12 children of which only 4 were living in 1910 -- so the 1877 marriage date may have merit. Based on being age 19 or older at the time of marriage in 1877, her birth date would calculate as 1858 or earlier. Judging from records of other children some of which we have firm birth records, Brandel was born probably 1852 to 1855.

MARRIAGE:
1. Email dated 16 Mar 2018 from Marcy Kolic :
"Attached is the marriage registration [see Family Search for image]. Translation is below. It appears this Hercenberg family lived in Kaluszyn. I have been unable to find others in Kaluszyn however.
"It happened in the city Kałuszyn on 12/24 May 1877 at noon. Appeared Moszek Dawid Kligeberg,
Kałuszyn district Rabbi and informed that in the presence of teachers: Szlama Podeszwa, 64 years
old and Szlama Sarna, 56 years old, both living in the city Kałuszyn there was concluded yesterday
at 7 p.m. religious marriage between:
Kielman Oficyner, widower, 38 years old, son of deceased Szmul Chaim Oficyner and living Bina
Oficyner, living in the city Kałuszyn and Brandla Hercenberg, virgin, 23 years old, daughter of Arja Leib Hercenberg and Łaja Gitla Hercenberg, living with her parents in the city Kałuszyn."
There were 3 banns published in Kałuszyn district synagogue on: 23 April/3 May, 30 April/12 May
and 7/19 May 1877.
There were no obstacles for this marriage.
Newlyweds informed they did not made premarital agreement and that their marriage was their own.
. This act was read aloud and signed by us and witnesses, newlyweds are illiterate."

2. Email dated 14 Dec 2018 from Marcy Kolic :
I finally found Brandla and Kalman's marriage certificate and got it translated.
It happened in the town of Kaluszyn 12 (24) May 1877 at 12 am. Appeared The Rabby of Kaluszyn District Moshek David Kligsberg and testified that the previous day at 7 pm has been performed a religious marriage between the Kelman Oficyner, a widower, aged 38, a son of deceased Szmul Chaim and still living Bina spouses Oficyner, residing in the town of Kaluszyn with the maiden Brandla Hercenberg, aged 23, the daugther of Aria Lejb and Laja Gitla spouses Hercenberg residing in the town of Kaluszyn with the support of parents, witnessed by the temple servants Szlyama Podeszwa, aged 64 and Szlyama Sarna, aged 56, both residing in the town of Kaluszyn. Three announcements of this marriage have been posted at this town in the temple of Kaluszyn District 23 Apr (5 May), 30 Apr (12 May) and 7 (19) May of this year. No claims were made against this. The newlyweds announced that no prenuptual contract has been made between them and that the marriage has been performed by mutual consent. This act was read to presented persons, and then signed by myself and the witnesses. The newlyweds are illiterate.

496 BIRTH:
1. Thomas and Margaret (Wright) Bancroft had two sons named Samuel. The first son was born 25 Jan 1667[/8] and died five days later. The death record image is attached to this individual and clearly identifies him as the son of Thomas and Margaret. This death record was apparently missed by most earlier researchers and the birth date was erroneously accorded to the later Samuel, whose birth record does not exist but certainly occurred after the death of the first Samuel. Since there was a child named Ruth born to the same parents in 1670, then the most likely date is "about 1672." The second Samuel is tightly associated with the other members of this family through probates and deeds and would not be a child of another set of parents.
