"Frye, James, Andover, br. of Benjamin, m. 20 Jan. 1680, Lydia, d. of John Osgood, had Lydia, b. 10 Feb. 1681; James; Sarah, 27 Feb. 1685; Joseph, 11 Nov. 1687, d. soon; Timothy 17 Feb. 1689, d. soon; Timothy, again, 11 Dec. 1690, d. 27 Aug. 1693; Phebe, 1693; Jonathan, H. C. 1723, k. in Lovewell's fight at Pequaket, 1725; Ann, d. young; Dorothy; and Mary; both m. He was freem. 1691."

"Frye is from Middle English fre, from Anglo-Saxon frig, freo (free).[1]
John frrie, b.c. 1606. d. 11-9-1693 (c. 87), with his wife Ann (Stratton?), d. 10-22-1680, and three children sailed from Southampton May 1638 in the ship "Bevis" and arrived at Boston August 1638 (c. 32), He was a wheelwright, and settled first at Newbury, Mass., then moved to Andover, Mass., before 1644 (c. 38). In 1656 (c. 50) he received £5 a head bounty for killing wolves, and was a Selectman 1670 (c. 64).[2] His seventh and youngest child
