      BIOGRAPHY:
      1. Was born with surname as Singleton, but changed name to Hardy during his lifetime. 1880 census lists John G. Hardy, 1900 census lists John Hardy, obituary lists John J. Hardy, LDS temple record for live ordinance lists John James Hardy, and Utah State Burial Index lists John James Hardy. Family lore states that he deserted from Military 9 Oct 1873 and changed his name from Lewis Thomas Singleton to John James Hardy.

      BIRTH:
      1. Per obituary.

      2. Per burial record cited below.

      3. Per LDS endowment record.

      4. Some family group sheets indicate Millcreek, Henry, Kentucky as does the LDS membership record on Family Tree accessed 11 Feb 2013.

      5. Kentucky birth certificate shows Mill Creek, Henry, Kentucky for birth place of Lewis Singleton who later changed his name to John James Hardy. This is the same person. No such place as Mill Creek exists today, except as a section of Louisville. John's obituary and burial record both report Louisville. Also John himself reported Louisville in 1878 when he had his endowment done -- which is as close as we can get to his own words. So we see Louisville used more than the non-existent Mill Creek in spite of the birth record. The entry above is a custom entry to incorporate Mill Creek as a sub-unit of Louisville even though it has disappeared in modern gazetteers. Today Louisville is in Jefferson County; however, we have incorporated the historical Henry County in the location above.

      MARRIAGE:
      1. Per obituary.

      2. Per burial record cited below.

      DEATH:
      1. Per burial record cited below.

      BURIAL:
      1. Per "Utah State Historical Society Burials Database" website. Relatives listed as Joel W. Hardy as father, Mary Ann Lunn as mother, and Cynthia Fredrick as wife. Birth: 16 Dec 1853 at Louisville, Henry, Kentucky and death 7 Mar 1933 at Mt. Emmons, Duchesne, Utah with burial in Altamont Cemetery. Comments: Married 13 Sep 1878.

      2. Funeral date per obituary.
