"My Susannah fits in your tree pretty good but I don't know if it's her. I have her living with her daughter & son in law.

Cassel Susannah 63 SC Born 1787
      William 30 SC 1820
I have Mary Ann E Castles married William Hutcheson July 1844. Gallatin Co, Ill. I found an older William Castles without a wife or Children. William Hutchison married Sarah McBride May 7, 1854. Susannah Castles bought land in Saline Co., Illinois 10-11-1854. I have her living alone in 1860, I think."
Kerry's comments: Susannah's mother in her will of 1826 directs specifically that no proceeds are to go to William Cassels, but only to Susannah and her kids. This would seem to indicate some difficulty which coincides to Susannah being separated later from William. Also the will doesn't mention Susannah in a location away from South Carolina which coincides with the two possible children of Susannah as noted above with one being born in SC in 1820 and the other in Tennessee in 1828.

      4. Email from Kay Hutchison [makay47@yourclearwave.com] January 01, 2007: "I found a William Castles probate in Gallatin Co IL. Saline Co,IL was in Gallatin until 1847. I was hoping to find out if William Castles was Mary Ann E Castles' father, but the probate did not name a wife or Children. The only thing was a Elijah Cross. Since then I found Elijah Cross on two other probates; one was John G. Castles, who I think is Susannah's son. John was living near them in 1850. He was 28 years old from SC also. The other one was William C. Castles' death of 30 Nov 1865; Elijah Cross was administrator. Do you know anything about the William Castles? I have three of them. The one I think is Susannah's son, the one in Gallatin Co., maybe her x. I have an old one too that was born between 1750-1760. It is a Gallatin Co. 1830 census: Castles, William 1 female 15-20 1 male 0-5 1 female 20-30 1 male 70-80 1 female. 70-80 too old to be Susannah's husband. Could this be William Castles father & mother?"
