He married Eunice Knickerbocker and they had two children, Frank J. and Mary Eunice. Frank J. Smiley was born in Elba and received a common school and academic education. He is a farmer and a traveling man. May 14, 1867, he married Mary I., oldestt daughter of Edward T. Squires, of Alexander. They had three children, of whome two survive, namely: Earl F., born March 27, 1878, and Ruth M., born August 7, 1884. The family reside on road 31.
