RESEARCH_NOTES: Accredited German Genealogist Trudy Schenk researched this family and was hired by Chris and Julie Petersen in 2003, 1501 Cara Loop, Anchorage, AK 99515. Information transferred from researcher and verified .
ROGER P. MINERT, Ph.D., A.G. He is an A.G. (Accredited Genealogist) with Austrian and German specialties. His recommendations for consistent entry patterns:
Laudenbach [Amt Weinheim], Mannheim, Baden, Germany (the official name is “Laudenbach Amt Weinheim” as differentiated from “Laudenbach bei Karlstadt” also in Baden. The pattern used by the FHL is to leave out the Amt [Weinheim], but this one confused the cataloger; I would suggest leaving out the “Amt Weinheim” because the other Rheinsheim is not in that county)
What's In A Name? What is the derivation of the surname Marx? "In ancient times people were sorted not by birth dates but by their father's first name; 'Marx', Marks, Markus, means 'son/daughter of Mark (short form of Markus)' = Mark's (son/daughter)." The Name Marx, Mark, Markus can be used as a given name (first/middle) name and there is no specific religious or nationality derivation. (http://www.themarxfamily.net/roots/)
